RECENT REVISIONS TO THE KH DRESS CODE?
by navytownroger ini was told by my former book-study conductor recently that a new 'dress code' had been handed down by the wts, because people had been 'getting too casual' with their styles of clothing.
one item he mentioed was a new rule for women prohibiting denim skirts.
and, when a woman wore a denim jacket, she was also told this was not appropriate for the kh.

Denim is still demonized
get a grip...they are not saying don't wear denim ever.
denim is fine in certain circumstances
other occasions it is not.
get dressed up people - it's fun

Attention Book Lovers!!!!!!!
by whyamihere inok, i am on my 8th book this month - not too bad for this mommy.
anyway, i've gotten back to my previous life of indulging myself into books that you can't put down.
little children by tom perrotta.. excellently portrayed 2 unhappily married suburbans who's repetitive wrong choices impact a their dull lives, yet alter your own moral thinking of them being heroic in their quest to find happiness with a self imprisoned/trapped marriage they each lead.

Proof the GB don't know what the hell they are doing
by slimboyfat inanother poster (dozy) mentioned this briefly on another thread, but i don't think anyone picked up on it and it deserves its own thread i think.
you know how there was a special announcement a few weeks ago saying that book study groups are stopping from january 2009?
well take a look at these comments in the new book ("keep yourselves in god's love") released at this year's conventions, under the heading "be obedient to those who are taking the lead" on page 48:.

when i told my jc that i was suicidal (effect of wrongful df-ing), the chairman tony boyland said 'well other people seem to manage'
i can still hear those words.
and every time i do it breaks my heart

Then there was a short, stocky Scot with a gammy leg/foot.... can't remember his name.
jim fleming...
he phoned me once to say he had heard that i was making fun of his gammy leg and in the time honoured fashion of dont go to bed in a provoked state he thought it best to speak to me about it. i said excuse me but who told you this. he told me that it had been reported to him by danny hollis - who was in fact the actual teller of said joke (but who was going thru a breakdown at the time)
i then said that in the interest of being open and truthful let me tell you that i dont go round mocking your affliction but in all honesty i dont defend you much either and for this reason - i dont much care for you. you have stayed at my home, eaten my food, been treated to anniversary presents and nights at the theatre...and i absolutely don't expect anything in return - because i do this to a lot of people cos i can and i want to - but i don't expect you to see me in the assembly corridor and put your head down and shuffle past me.
he said i didnt see you but if i ever do that again feel free to kick me.
i resisted the urge to say well i would do but you've already got a gammy leg.
wish i had now...see that was my problem - always thinking before i spoke - got me into a pile of trouble.

Most Haunting Voices in Music
by stillajwexelder inok - so after a few threads in the last few days i started listening to some of my old music.
some artists just have voices that are hauntingly beautiful and stick with you forever.
for me - the top three are.

Do you find yourself kinda thinking conspiricy theorist are maybe correct?
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH ini don't know if it is me or if it is becauce i was taught so much false teachings growing up, or maybe that the watch tower publications are about a 10th grade level and when i read a thoughtful article i want to believe it.
but boy, television media seems to present the public with truths the same way the watchtower presents its truth.
with 10 minute sound bites, never getting to deep and really not explaining very well the history of some of the subjects.just a thought!

You want us to believe that fxxx-up governments that haven't been able to carry on successful wars in a backwater like Afghanistan (USSR first, and now the US and allies), yet they can work together to pull off "something" that is "being orchestrated at a global level and that all of the leaders of the major nations are part of it."
but thats all part of the deception man..its what they want us to believe

Resoltions at the cong
by Iwonder17 inso last night, our cong asked us to pass a resolution.. what i noticed was, the elder reads the resoltion and then asks for everyone in favor, while he is looking down.. all of the dubs just raise their hands, and before even looking up, th elder says, ok, we'll approve this and send it off.. what a joke !!
why even bother.
just make the rules and tell them people, don't give them the illusion that they have a say in the matter.

Even saw a couple of elders vote against some resolutions.
hmmm poor show.
since it is the elders that are putting the resolution to the cong then there is no need for them to vote at that time. even if they disagreed with the decision then they would have had the oppurtunity to discuss this at an elders meeting and on being out-voted at that they ought to have then gone along with the decision..(according to jw rules)
i know of a cong that put a resolution to the hall that they purchase 2 antique chairs for the platform since they had the chance to do so at a reduced rate (altho still not cheap).... the cong voted against it on the grounds that the money being spent would be better used to fix the holes in the roof of the kh..at which point they were told that the chairs had already been bought. i was visiting the cong the following week and the watchtower reader refused to sit on them. bad form..but still funny.
