The Revelation book was stolen and twisted from Hal Lindsay.

What exactly are JWs unique in?
by isaacaustin inthe wt will make the assertion that the witnesses have the truth (i.e.
are god's org) due to a huge laundry list of items.
of course, this ignores the fact that their teaching is that they were appointed over jesus earthly belongings in 1919. but, lets roll with it...the witnesses have the truth because they do not:.

Wow, the year is 2008, and still no Armageddon!
by Nosferatu inevery time we enter a new year, i think about how i wasn't supposed to make it this long.
i really believed we wouldn't live past the year 2000, and armageddon would change everything.
it almost strikes me as living on borrowed time, but then i remember that armageddon is a story, not a reality.

I told all my friends when I DA'd that I'd let them off easy until 2014, at which point I will start judging THEM. I will contact the ones I still have access and invite them all to discuss with me why I left Jehovah's Witnesses, Christianity and theism.

These things are important to have access to in order to back up the objection:
"There is no evidence that the religion of Jehovha's Witnesses is demonstrably superior to other similar religious groups in terms of the behavior of its members."

If it can be a "sign" when the work is increasing...
....and also a "sign" of the same thing when it is decreasing...
It's safe to say their is no correlation whatsoever.

I had a cigar and read a book - Ham On Rye (Bukowski) - in Lincoln Park on a beautiful spring Sunday morning. Then I walked along the Beach, had brunch with a jamming bloody Mary. Then I started atoning for my past mistakes. I spent the rest of the day contacting friends from my youth and apologizing for the total douche-bag I had been in my teens and early 20's. I wrapped up the day by going to a film festival.
There was never anything as glorious as getting about 16 hours of time back into my life. I now had time to go to the gym, study, clean, sleep, etc.

Is Faith Dangerous? A Question for Believers...
by AllTimeJeff ini hope this will be as respectful a debate as possible.
here is the premise: many of us (most) seem to be ex jw's on this board.
that means, whatever your motivation, for a time you bought into the theology of jw to one degree or another.

I consider faith to be irrational optimisim. This has no innate problem. It could produce good results as can irrational pessimism.
Either way, I think it's a very natural human tendancy. But, in general, I think it's a behavior of last resort - one that should be turned to in life only in decreasing increments where the light of reason can not shine.

My Boyfriend's not a Witness...
by Hikaru inalright, with my last post it should be obvious i'm in conflict...if it's not, then yeah.. my boyfriend is not a witness.
he understands that witnesses can't marry or date non witnesses.
but i guess could say we've been stalling...looking for a solution a gray area to that black and white situation...but with time getting as it is...stalling doesn't work anymore.

Break up the relationship, go to school, and live on your own for 5 years while dating multiple people. Remember this advice in 10 years when you ignore it.

If you have left, how would you treat witnesss you run into ?
by lancelink ini da'ed myself back in october 2008.. i also work at a local community college, where the witnesses have a booth set up during the winter months and usually there are 3 -4 people.
just sitting there counting their time.. they are located in a student lounge area where i need to cross several times a day.. my question is this: would you just ignore them totally,.
would you approach them if they made eye contact, or would you just approach them whenever and say hello ?

It's at your job. Just ignore them, or smile, say hello and make small talk.

The only meaningful way to get to know a person is by spending long periods of time alone with them. Period.

Old-time Birthdays and Vaccinations (so I don't hijack PJ's anymore)
by yknot inon pj's " /are-we-following-men " thread i asked him if he remembered celebrating b-day or receiving vaccines because he has been a jw for 63 years.. birthdays were officially banned in oct 1, 1951's qfr (see below at bottom of initial posting).
so if you were a jw before this took place please share your memories of this bygone era..... also if you remember getting vaccinated for the first time after the dec 15, 1952 qfr's and are willing to share your stories of both life during and after the ban i would be deeply grateful!
does anyone on the board have a faked acid vaccination mark or remember hearing stories about them from older jws?

And PJ is a shill. I don't believe any 60 year old could write that way.
