  Is it compulsory to stay the 15 minutes for association after the WT study?

  well, today was the first sunday meeting with the half hour public talk.. the public talk was not for the public at all - it was about staying awake spiritually and was very hardcore.

  more like a service talk.. before the meeting, one sister says that we are all expected to stay for at least 15 minutes after the wt study, because the society.

  wants us to have more "association".. .

  Willesden Cong in North London shares with 3 others so Sunday has 4 slots 9, 12, 3 and 6pm and the congs move one slot round each year.
  
  Nobody likes 6pm Sunday.

  i have gone thru phases with this.

  i sometimes have forced jw's who shun me to speak, or be embarrassed if they don't.

  then i let up on that as the hurting lessened over time.

  I won't shun anyone - its a form of psychological torture and I'm better than that I hope. Thats what we have left behind surely?
  
  We had a pleasant surprise yesterday to bump into a JW and he spent 5 minutes talking to us - he knows full well we are DF'd (and certainly what for) yet he was more than civil, he was friendly. He didn't seem at all embarrassed, not a deer in the headlights, just an old friend chatting about stuff.
  
  For me that means he is not under full mind control, and therefore an excellent prospect for an anti-Witness, although we never mentioned anything like that.
  
  So, no, I won't be shunning anybody - my aim is to win the war, not the little skirmishes.

  How Does a July 4th Lake Tahoe Apostafest Sound in California ?Let me Know

  hello friends !

  my wife, mrs. flipper and i were talking about getting an apostafest together for july 4th , 2008 weekend this summer.

  this year the 4th falls on a friday, so it would at least be a 3 day holiday weekend when some may be able to get away !

  i always thought it was ironic how often they preached against this sort of thing from the platform, then were out in the parking lot trying to sell it to you.

  We were recruited (willingly) into Tahitian Noni at the KH by friends who later gave evidence against us to the Judicial Committee which DF'd us for apostasy. Fair enough we are apostates :-)
  
  MLM even in its best guise tends to have some of the hallmarks of a commercial cult and at worst is a clear scam - ie Ponzi schemes etc
  
  Incidentally the top earner globally in Tahitian Noni is a JW from Oklahoma - Ken Rol**** - PM me if you want his full name - he has thousands of JW's in his downline, including some that post on JWD :-)

  thiests like to portray their god as who they want him to be.

  please allow me to use some extreme examples: the god of abortion clinic bombers worship a vengeful god and are convinced that this is what they should do to please him.

  ditto those who commit hate crimes against homosexuals, or terrorist acts.

  BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?

  i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.

  while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).

  a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

  it's no secret that the "organization" has increased it's cia, national security clerance only super-secret attitude in regards to the elder school that is going to be conducted soon.

  a few days ago, i had a conversation with an elder who has been in the fold all of his life practically.

  in keeping with the conversation style of jws, the gentleman told me that nobody knows what exactly will be taught at the meetings, but in his backdoor conversations with some brothers who seem to be tuned into the bethel's officially, unofficial, communications network, the elders are going to be taught "post-armageddon" teachings.

  our mormon "miracles" are more unexplainable than yours.... one of the many tools used by the morg to keep it's members active is the use of faith promoting stories involving apparent miracles... or the unexplainable.

  there are unexplainable stories even in my own family.

  Bible Study (I know this family up in Scotland so have heard this 1st hand)was coming along in the late '60's and was counselled to get rid of their OB.
  
  So that night they got it down from on top of a wardrobe in an upstairs room and threw it in the bin.
  
  Imagine their surprise when it was right back on top of the wardrobe next time they looked....
  
  Dang demunz.
  
  (Never did hear how they finally got rid of it - perhaps burnt it, in which case there would be a blue flame involved)

  It's my 1st JWD birthday

  it's my first jwd birthday today and i just wanted to say a hug thank you to everyone on this board.. i am so glad i joined here, looking back over the last year i know i've come a long way.

  i started out here knowing it wasnt the truth but not sure where to go or what to do.

  throughout this year i've learnt so much about myself and feel i am finally being the person i want to be.
