GB member visits Bolton--UK
by bigmac inive pasted the following from a uk xjw facebook page.:.
i found out last night that thursday, just gone, a member of the gb came to rosehill congregation in bolton to tell them the gb will now be more active and a more prominent part of their lives, this is to build trust and make it so when they revel new direction in the future, people don't push against them and they follow them.
it's a long shot shot but what are the chances he will be at any other meeting in this district this sunday and how can i find out?.

Freaking out a Jehovah's Witness
by jgnat inas you know, my husband has physically left the witnesses.
he nevertheless clings to many of the beliefs like a protective cloak, and every once in a while i trigger a dissonant episode where my reality clashes with his.
recently he listened in on my work research, a video of a futurist describing the a potential "disruptive change" event in the next fifteen years, as our culture shifts to autonomic (driverless) vehicles.

JW.ORG Business Cards?
by toweragent indid anybody else get an announcement at their meeting about the branch approved jw.org business cards?.
apparantly, they're real slick and fit into your wallet (making it easier to informal witness).
the logic was, some people don't want to be handed a big tract and would prefer something smaller.. so strange considering how little there is to those tracts!

Sam Harris on Christian Morality
by cofty inthe following video sums up why i not only reject theism but oppose it.... if you worship a god who hears your prayers please invest 6 minutes to listen and ask yourself how you would respond.
then ask yourself whether your answer requires the same special pleading and double-think we used to indulge in to defend our jw beliefs.....

BBC Radio 4 reference to 607 Babylonian conquest?
by 88JM inwas listening to bbc radio 4 late sunday night, and in a programme about migration, they referenced the "babylonian conquest of jerusalem in 607 b.c.
" which caught my attention.. did they not mean 587 b.c., or did i understand it wrong?.
the link to the programme is below - sorry if you're not in the u.k. as you probably won't be able to listen to bbc programmes.

on Google there are about 100,000 references each to Jerusalem and 586 or 587
there are about 2,000,000 references to 607
a sloppy researcher could easily get the wrong end of the stick
talk about 'teach the controversy' having intended consequences - sigh.

by scotinsw inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28166192.

i pass them in london on a daily basis at one of mainline train stations in the city and the only people i've seen talking to them are lost tourists (looking for directions).

Bit of a niche # journorequest but I'd love to talk to a former Jehovah's Witness. Please email [email protected] ASAP if you can help.
