I don't think I'd bother with giving them the time of day. They could do whatever the hell they want and label me however they want to. It doesn't change who I am, and I'm not going to waste another second of my life buying into their drama.
I'd just be sure to keep my video camera by the door with my list of questions for my "documentary".

It's interesting to see how little things have changed. Attitudes are still the same. Outlook toward women is the same, stupid rules for inane practices still the same. It's just like watching a really bad soap opera. You can miss a year or five, tune back in and the same people are still living the same screwed up lives.

every decision seems to be loaded with a 'what if' scenario and also, a 'what will people say' on top of that.. the april 15, 2006, is a classic for showing why the average jw is so messed up, it's amazing that he/she even knows what to put on in the morning!.

I had been in some gross homes in field service in my time, but none as bad as you guys have described...
I did have a non-JW friend later on though, who was the worst housekeeper I had ever seen. I loved her dearly, but for a stay at home Mom, her home was almost unliveable. She would have piles of 20-40 dirty diapers piled all around the house. Wherever she changed the baby the diapers just stayed. It was just filthy beyond belief. Garbage of every kind piled up, rotting food... uck. I would offer to babysit her kids so her hubby and her could have a "date night" then I could clean her house while she was gone. To her credit after some time she did get better. Maybe by being friends with a neat freak? Or not, I don't know. I was glad for her kids though...

Pretty much anything that was a no-no was classified as demonized. Music, tv, movies, games etc etc etc.
The concept that yoga was demonized scared me as a kid. The thought that stilling your mind would allow demons in was pretty disconcerting. I can remember thinking about it in reciting scriptures over and over in my head so that it wouldn't be still and allow demons to come in. Does that make any sense?
I can remember certain Disney movies were big no-no's. Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty etc... anything with witches or magic.

Self employed and LOVING it! I had a job at a bank that I really loved, the JOB part anyways. I couldn't stand some of the people I had to work with, and their little chicken dances over every little issue that came up. (Not with me, with the work we did in general) Then there was the Supervisor who would tap her clicky shoes on her plastic chair mat allllllll day long. clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick ARRRRGH! Basically what it came down to though was that I was paying to work, because of having three children in daycare, two full time and one after school. I started my own business and although it's frustrating at times, and I've really struggled with my discipline, but when you see all your hard work getting results finally it feels soooo good. All your work is for YOU, not some corporate head living in a city somewhere. It's been alot of hard work but so worth it.

I did believe that this was "Jehovah's Service" - just that there must be something wrong with me, if I did not like what I was doing.
This is exactly how I felt.... pretty much about every aspect of being a Dub, but field service most of all. I would actually feel physically ill when it was my turn to get out of the car, and borderline panicky the rest of the time. I thought it was because my heart was bad though...
It seemed to me, though, that no one else in the congregation much liked it either. Nothing was said to the fact, but it seemed to be treated as a chore and something to bear. There was no "joy"... shoulda been my first clue.

in the past the watchtower society (wts) claimed that the "glorious ones" in 2 peter 2:10-12 and jude 8 are of the "anointed" or "144,000" or "remnant" of such.
Oh wow.... that's ALL their already inflated ego's need.
I can totally see the Elders I know taking this and running with it.
