  WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN LIFE?

  since we were never really allowed to "have goals" while we were witnesses (other than becoming a pioneer or going to bethel), what goals have you set for yourself now that you're free?

  i'm pursuing my ba, but i'm not sure in what field i want to major in...maybe religious studies!

  wouldn't that be a scream?

  Get an college education- Working on getting my degree in Web Programming!

  Travel- A LOT. All over the world. I'm a history nut, I want to see where it happened! Sleep in castles, explore egyptian tombs, walk on the Great Wall of China. I want to do it all!

  Build my business- I run a small online business from home doing websites and desktop publishing for a certain type of clientel (Get your minds out of the gutter... it's for Mary Kay Directors! ) . All of my business is word of mouth, and business is steadily progressing!

  LOVE the avatar. My favorite chawacter on that cartoon.

  Thanks! It's actually in tribute to my two year old, who seems to think the kitties need to be pulled around the house by their tails. I think she's just trying to take them for a walk, but they don't seem to appreciate it!

  I don't think it's as much people trying to rain on other's parades.... we were just having a bit of our own.

  we all need a kind word from someone.

  Non-poplular people need love too!

  Witness Paranoia, and former Witness Paranoia

  when i was a witness, i once had a elder tell me that he was positive the fbi was tracking witness activity.

  even saying that he would not fill out anything that stated his religion on official, or even unofficial documents that were not from the society, as he felt this was a tool to track witnesses.

  i remember once in a talk, it was mentioned that witnesses are not free from government tracking and that we should expect this.

  We had the demon paranoia in our house too. I can remember being so terrified I would lie awake at night with my blankets pulled up to my eyeballs watching every dark corner of my room for movement.

  It's no wonder when every word out of the adults mouth was about how this, that, and the other thing was demonized.

  Then I remember reading the stories in the mags about demons scratching on peoples windows, and one landing on a womans bed and then sliding off the end....

  I don't ever win anything.... I couldn't win a lottery if I was the only one who bought a ticket.

  Doesn't stop me from buying the occasional ticket when I'm down in the lower 48, usually a Powerball ticket or something like that. It's nice to at least imagine what I'd spend it on if I won.

  What Went Thru Your Mind While Sitting at The Meetings?

  i used to listen but not really.

  i'd look at the platform/speaker stand, look like i was paying attention, get antsy, and find another elder to "discuss" something ith.

  i just got to the meeting----right before it was to start and if the talkative po decided that his last part was going to go overtime, i'd put on my coat and look at the big clock on my way out in front of everyone and leave for the local bar.

  sick kids

  aaack.... my oldest (almost 6) is pretty sick guys.. took her to the doc the other day to find out she has pneumonia.

  she is absolutely miserable.. the doc put her on zithromax and gave her some cough syrup (w/ codeine) to help her rest.. hubby and i doing our best at not getting sick.

  this is the daughter w/ the down's.

  That poor little thing! I'll keep her in my prayers...

  It's so hard when your kids are sick, to see them suffer and you feel so helpless. The only upside is that my kids are usually such busy little bugs, when they're not feeling good I get all the snuggle time I could wish for. But, I'd still be sick for them if I could.

  I think most obvious paranoia I saw had to do with the fear of Apostates in the midst. I think every time someone was DFd and it wasn't abundantly clear what for, everyone went home and took a shower just in case some apostate cooties rubbed off on them. I can remember seeing people in the store who were labeled Apostate when I was small, and my parents talking in panicked hushed tones about their plan of escape out of the building.

  Crazy crazy

  There also seemed to be a strong undercurrent of the feeling that we were only a day or so away from holding hidden meetings and having our toenails ripped out to confess our beliefs. That one was especially great to impress on young children...

  That school janitors and carpet cleaners (Elders) are somehow automatically qualified to dispense psychological counseling.
