  Well we've had on and off readings, mainly to give my wifes voice a break, and are 1/3 of the way through. The kids only managed to get to the end of the first chapter before they started fighting with each other and were sent to bed (at 1:30 in the morning). All the more popcorn for me

  Apart from the shared experience thing, I like the spread of ages and the split between male and female posters. I find that when it comes to non JW issues a subject gets a all round discusion.

  Crumpet, I unwisely set a president with my eldest daughter when the HP book came out and now the youngest will want her turn or there'll be hell to pay. Though it's an inconvenience I'll do it because it's these little things that make up childhood memories. As for the reading, my good lady wife will be giving us all a few chapters over hot chocolate and popcorn before we all slump off to bed.

  On the subject of his infallibleness the pope when did he get his pre-release copy? Was it a weak plot line or the 2 dimensional characters he objected too?

  Love the books, love the fact it's got my kids into reading, hate the hype. Anyone else going to get their copy at midnight either voluntarily or by coercion?

  Should dubs sun-bathe?

  so smoking cigs is a drug, yea like caffine (saw this posted somewhere recently), so then they say, its a defilement, and cause cancer etc.

  by this method of thinking, is it also wrong to deliberatly sun-bathe, knowing full well its dangerous (especially here in australia, lots of skin cancers from it) and possibly not showing respect for "the sanctity of life"?.

  someone asked me this while i was still a dub, i think it helped put a dent in the old "faith" bridge.

  Though it is true that many secular sources at the time would of agreed in the assumption that there were benefits from UV radiation, to put oneself forward as the mouthpiece of god and then make such a statement that is now obviously in error surly brings into question the validity of their self appointed position. I would say that looking at the foundation of WTS is a valid exercise in determining their credibility. I must report all I find is “sandy ground”.

  How to spot a JW? some questions

  hello i was just wondering how can you spot a jw?

  many of you mentioned about spotting a jw down at the shops or something, how do you reconise them?

  also how does a jw on field ministry dress?

  i already bought 2 door cars, and the witnesses didn't like it... i felt looked down upon, as it was a sin to buy a 2 door car.. now imagine an elder buying a 2 door car....

  I get that it's easier but are we talking about old and infirm publishers? Do publishers need to make a quick exit from the car if they see a potential convert that might escape? Do witlesses on average have less flexible knees than ordinary people (note to self: check own knees) or is there a secret deal between the org and the motor companies?

  I must admit I'm curious why publishers can't get out the back of two door cars?
