by diamondblue1974 infor those that know us and that have been following our jwd love story...we cannot contain the news any longer, we have known now for over two weeks but wanted to wait until we had the last early pregnancy scan to confirm everything was ok. .
today we witnessed a miracle in the making and the ultimate in creativity - the scan confirmed a strong heartbeat and considerable growth since the last scan a fortnight ago.. we are going to be parents .

Facebook surprise: looks like most of my childhood friends got out!

and today i found one person there that i still consider somewhat of a friend, that i know is disfellowshipped.
this person turns out to be a 'hub', in that this person has a lot of facebook 'friends'.

Q for pagans: Reincarnation
by White Dove in" well, i've been thinking of how the little insect seems to have little brain power (low iq or something) but the larger the animal or life form, the smarter it gets.
babies grow this way.
as each cell is doubled, it gets smarter and its body grows.

It's not like new bodies have to be there for them all, right away. I do think that there are line ups, so to speak, for higher forms, especially human. It's considered a great privilege. Spirits can wait eons, no problem, for their next tour. Another thing, they can opt out at any stage from going further. Incarnation on this planet isn't for every spirit. How many spirits would want to be fish and just keep getting eaten, over and over and over? Perhaps, for some spirits, one insect life is enough. Let's face it, everything eats everything else, here. Few physical endings are pain free.

If I have a soul, so do the animals and insects and such. That means that they too must reincarnate into higher (if they learned a lesson), stay the same (repeat a lesson), or go remedial. So many insects, so many souls, what to do with all of them??? Merge them along with other personality types of animals and move on up. Think??? After all, where did we get our instincts from in the first place? Must have learned them. Preprogrammed? Only by past experience. Hmmm...
Interesting thoughts! I dont see a need to merge souls because whilst there are plenty of life forms to transmigrate into - a step up from an Ant could be said to be a beetle for instance and it could be said that there are plenty of opportunities for progression? I dont know, what do you think? G

Death is a Terrible thing...
by KW13 inhas it sunk in for you people that your going to die yet?
i'm still avoiding the thought but it lurks in the back of my mind, i'm aware someday i've got to address it - like many here i didnt expect to live this far in this system, so i haven't any plan for life as of yet.. death frightens me.
i cannot sometimes watch a film with death of a character in a tragic way - there one moment with family/friends and a life and then not...i read the story about challenger the rocket that exploded and how the crew onboard that shuttle may well of been aware they were going to die.

I dont fear death in the slightest and certainly do not equate death with stopping.
Just like the seasons, life and death are just part of a never ending process. I know when I was part of the borg I had a horrendous fear of death in case I had not done enough. As a pagan I dont see the need to fear something so natural.

2nd AA meeting. Would value opinions
by digderidoo ini went to my 2nd aa meeting last night and came away with doubts as to whether this would work for me, so would value peoples opinion especially those who attend aa.. there were one or two there that were quite evangelical, which obviously works for them.
also within the program there is alot of emphasis on god or a higher power.
for many this higher power is the group itself, yet for some it is god.. i spoke to someone sitting by me about this who said that to make sobriety sometimes you have to fake it and go along with the god thing.. at the end of meetings there is a short prayer which i do not want to take part in.

Whatever works matey!
You mentioned that at the time of posting you had been 7 days sober and thats a major achievement for someone who is dependent!
The 'God' element is down to how you understand him(or her) and can be something other than a God for that matter - For someone so early into their sobriety it is common for people to find excuses as to why they shouldnt carry on with their recovery - its perfectly natural its just essential that you listen to those who have your best interests at heart rather than the addiction devil sat on your shoulder!

Yes baptism is of pagan origin. This stems from the pre christian initiatory rites which involved symbolic death and rebirth usually using one or more of the elements. In pre christian history there is evidence of being buried within the earth (usually in burial chambers like Newgrange) and then arising from a period of darkness into the light, in effect being reborn.
This is similar to being completely immersed in water then arising out of it reborn or with the new personality!!

Oh, how many of us heard that we wouldn't make it to graduation or get married in this system? I thought I wouldn't grow up. No one talked about preparing for the future. I didn't think about college, only pioneering, and I didn't save money. Passed up opportunities to advance on my job, turned down overtime because it interfered with meetings. I used to be so angry but now I find myself laughing at all the bs I was told. (maybe a coping mechanism) I'm so thankful that I can move on with my life, seeing that I did grow up after all! And I can teach my sons some practical things about life and living it to the full. Just a thought I was having since I am thinking about going to school...
I couldnt agree more with you, I was told that I would get to Junior school before the new system coming and I am 33 years old now. It appears however you are in a good place right now which is free of anger and content to get on with your life...go to school, do everything you have ever wanted but held back from doing! Gary
