Its about time you apologised - your always talking during the meetings and I cannot concentrate on what is being said; you sing like a girl at the meetings and you always insist on eating garlic in your food before the meetings too. You should have some consideration!

i dont post on here that often but look everyday.. i used to be an elder and left the witnesses 5 years ago.
my wife left 6 years ago.. in my opinion my wife and i have had the best 5 years of our lives because we have been married 28 years.. after 28 years of marriage she sent me a text you need to go home there is a letter on our bed.
in the letter she clearly states she has left me because she does not love me in the real way.
I have even had thought of going back to the Witnesses because all my old friends are there. However I cannot do that because I have read everything that proves it not the truth
Sorry to hear of your pain and suffering - I am glad you realise that the above is not a viable option for you - they were never your real friends anyway.
You will pull through this turbulent time and you will be the better for it.

i found it very interesting to learn on this forum about the origins of yahweh as an ancient tribal deity worshipped by the early settlers in the middle east.
but i know very little about allah, the god of islam.. does anyone know the relationship between allah and yahweh?
do both these deities have an origin in the ancient tribes from the middle east area?.

Well Chewbakka lived on endor...or so we are led to believe - so if Chewbakka lives or lived on endor and the ewoks do also then it stands to reason that there is 144,000 who have the heavenly hope.

i've just finished reading letter to a christian nation - a challenge to faith by sam harris.
i really learned a lot from this gem, particularly regarding the power the christian right has over science in the usa and how it has stopped the most vital research to alleviate human suffering - stem cell research!
i am here talking about embryonic stem cells, which entails their destruction after three days, and not stem cells taken from a donor's blood or bone, which is the treatment i am to undergo.. on pages 28-32 harris gives sound arguments why such research should go ahead - and i agree with him.

Hardly, I stand by the argument that religion per se is ineffectual when it comes to a persons morality and ethical values; what does however improve the person is true spirituality.

Personally I don't believe in an interventionist 'God' as pictured by some bearded guy upstairs that sees and knows everything.
I certainly dont believe that such a god if he did exist, is a loving God. There has been centuries of propaganda trying to improve this Gods image and make him out to be all knowing, all loving but his performance to date sets out exactly what he is. Either non existent or an absentee landlord.
I believe in Divinity or a Divine creative spark which is within everything and part of everything.

This is where I get controversial - yes I agree they should and I think they should be forced to use them too! (how you would enforce it is a different matter lol); whilst I am aware of the moral arguments relating to enforcing someone elses morality upon another, there is a line to be drawn when someones irresponsibility or lack of education can affect the majority.

There is evidence to suggest it is but Atheists are generally not evil, they have a valid viewpoint which is just as worthy of analysis and challenge as their counterparts.

i've been thinking a lot lately about how much i've changed over the last year.
i've only been out of the borg for a year but i've changed so much.
my father called me the other day and told me that he found out that my husband has been going on these xjw boards and wanted to know how i felt about it.
Standing up to your parents is not easy no matter how old or young you are - I admire your bravery and courage.
It is sad to hear that your parents decided to cut off association with you and I do understand that this might be difficult; my advice if I may offer some, is that you should always keep the door open for them to return when they feel they can but not just as parents but as equals.
Its not always easy for parents to admit that they were wrong and whilst it is tempting to give them a taste of their own medicine (especially if they have been away for a number of years), you show you are the bigger more mature and intelligent person by accepting their apology (no matter how cryptically it is expressed).

Personally I think that morality is entirely subjective and one persons morals could be anothers immorality (take JWs for instance). But what makes one set of moral principles right and the other wrong? Do we have the right to dictate one way or another?
In the context of the above how can we possibly define 'morally superior' as a term when morality does not lend itself to a prescribed set of ethics, virtues and values?
Put simply, if we cannot sufficiently define morality how can we possibly define what is morally superior or not?

i've been seeing an amazing man for a few months now.
i recently found out that before we met, my boyfriend had been thinking about getting back together with his ex-girlfriend.
(who is going through a divorce of her own right now) they have a two year old son together.. he says that if his child weren't involved, he wouldn't even consider going back to her.
