Name Things You Can Get Counseled,Reproved or Disfellowshipped For
by minimus insince the jw religion is sooooo restrictive, it is good to think about just how wacky this cult is.....for example, you can get counseled for buying a 2 door car as opposed to a "pioneer" car (4 door).

Ted Jaracz and the Pope
by onacruse ini had an odd feeling today, as i waited for news that pope john paul ii was on the verge of losing his physical existence.. never having been a catholic, why should i care about this one man's existence?
and especially, insofar as he has served as a representative of one of the world's most heinous religions?.
and suddenly a contrast came to my heart: if it was ted jaracz who was dying, i wouldn't give a flying fleep.

Maybe because the Pope has shown himself as a real and caring individual devoted to his god? That is admirable and certainly missing in the behavior of mr jaracz.

JW is caught swearing on PEOPLE'S COURT
by carefully faded ini'm watching people's court right now while i'm surfing the net.
and perked up when i heard the words "kingdom hall".
turns out the plaintiff, an elderly woman, is a jw and mentioned during her testimony that she was on the way to kingdom hall when her car started knocking and making noises.

The Watchtower, Scholar and Misrepresentation of Source References
by AlanF inour resident pretend-jw-scholar who calls himself "scholar" enjoys justifying lying and misrepresentation by the watchtower society and himself.
the society, out of one side of its collective mouth, recommends not misrepresenting source references, yet out of the other side, goes ahead and does so without hesitation whenever it is convenient.
the society understands that unfair quoting is dishonest.

Pet Care, I need your assistance...
by jeanniebeanz inwell, my cat johnny who is 17 years old had gone from 16 lbs to under 10 in a short time, and we finally know why.
according to the latest blood work, he has a hyper thyroid.
the vet has told us there are only three options; pills (cat cannot swallow pills, never has been able to), surgery in which they would bombard the thyroid with enough radiation to kill it (very risky for a cat this age), and a medicated gel which we would have to rub in his ear each day.

hi jeannie, we do not have cats but dogs, rottwielers to be exact. one of our oler boys needed thyroid help. we gave it to him in a pill mixed with food and it really worked. pills are very inexpensive, just mix it in with a favorite dinner. i am sure he deserves the extra treat and attention at this time. just give him lots of love when eating his meds. ha! that's the same as the already suggested "cat mickey"!!!

JW's are not Christians
by Witch Hunter ini've noticed on this forum that a fair few ex-jw's still refer to the members of the non-christain cult known as the jehovah's witneses as christians.
im aware that current members may wrongly believe they are in fact christians because the organisation leads them to believe they are serving god.
but for ex-members who are awake to the false teachings of this non-christain organisation, i thought they may be more prudent in their choice of words, and not refer to them as christians.

SallySue is correct. I remember as a kid, going door to door being asked if we were Christians. The response I was taught to deliver was, " We are Witnesses of Jehovah God our creator, and we believe Jesus is his son through whom all things were created". A non-answer, right? I also remember being told we were to be christ-like and pray in Jesus' name, but Jehovah is the one we worship. The title "Jehovah's Christian Witnesses" is a new one to me, but I've been away for a very long time. So no, I did not consider myself a "Christian" we were to be no part of "Christiandom" period.

Does disfellowshipping work?

I just left, period. Nothing about them brought me any peace, joy, happiness, love, or anything else positive. Being brought up a jw made it easy to shun them!

It was after the 1975 fiasco that everyone was reprimanded for 'speculating'. That was also about when the 'elders' or 'servants' as they were then refered to began repeatedly counseling 'the Watchtower never printed that, only if it is printed in their official magazine should we believe these things' !!!!yuck!!!! that's what I remember anyway...
