Just curious how you found that out?
I saw her do it. It was on one of those rare occasions where JWs get together and help the elderly with housework and home repairs. There must have been an article in the WT or a local needs talk.
ok, i'm sure all of us have met some incredibly bizarre jws over the years --- i have met some that could have been characters in a movie...just unbelievably weird.
i've shared some of my stories with a good friend (non jw) and she swears i'm making this stuff up.
how in the heck could i make these people up??

the cycle never ends even when you leave the wt.
you go from one set of fears to another set of fears.
i used to be terrified of armageddon when i was a jw and just knew i was going to get hit by a lightning bolt from jehovah on that day.
I bet if you ask most ex-JW's or born agains why do they serve 90% of them will say because they don't want to be destroyed or go to hell.
As a born-again Christian I have no fear of hell.
I attend church because I enjoy being there. No one is saved by attending church. You are only saved by God's grace. All you need to do is to admit that you are a sinner, believe that Christ died on the cross for your sins, repent of your sins and accept Christ as your personal Savior.
Anyone who says that they attend church because they don't want to go to hell is not a true Christian.

How about when JWs use to leave mags as tips at restaurants. That was so embarassing!
I knew one brother who used to pocket the tips that were left for the waitress.
I knew one strange sister who preferred to use a pot in the kitchen pantry instead of the toilet in the bathroom.
There was another sister who attended the meetings sporting a beard. Her chin hair was about 4 inches long.
we went to lunch at our local cafe on saturday, and there were two families - still jws, also dining there, (in different parts of the cafe).
we expected the usual shunning treatment, but surprisingly they initiated the "hellos and how are you" and seemed genuinely pleased to see us (we have been out of the org for over 3 yrs now and we are always shunned whenever we see former jw friends) it was such a surprise to us and we couldn't help wondering if the governing body have issued "new light" on the treatment of disassociated ones.
especially as these two families have completely avoided us for a long time, even though we personally wrote to them to explain our reasons for leaving (un involvement etc+) .
My FIL just gave us this issue.
just got back about 2am from the bahamas.
it was awesome and the atlantis was an amazing place to stay and play.
we spent a few days just hanging out at the resort, riding slides and exploring all it offered.
Just remember that the Straw Market stalls are about half JW's selling their stuff!
Are you serious? The Straw Market is full of scam artists and just about everything in there is counterfeit. My friend bought a purse there and it fell apart a couple of weeks later.
I really got tired of the attitude about Americans there...I wonder what they think would be supporting them if not tourist dollars???
What happened? My husband and I were thinking about taking a weekend cruise there. I'm having second thoughts now.
.

an update on the case states that he only went the kingdom hall once and then attended the other five services at a christian church.
i wonder if all the letters had an impact?
the article goes on to state the the case generated interest from as far away as germany and great britain.. .
Have American Judges heard of the separation of Church & State?
Sorry, the headline was a bit misleading and I should have given some background on the case.
The man was given a choice between 30 days in jail or attending a predominantly black church for 6 Sundays. The man chose to go to the church. Another article stated that the judge decided to offer the man the choice of attending church because he knew if this man was sent to jail he would probably just get involved with a racist group and would learn nothing from the situation. Since he was given a choice, I don't see a problem with it.
The only controversy I saw was that the man attended services at the Kingdom Hall of JWs. I believe it was mentioned that his lawyer may have had some JW ties. Several people, including myself, wrote to the judge to express our dismay over this man attending the KH. I don't know if our letters made a difference or if the man just decided that the KH sucked and didn't want to go back. Either way the outcome was good. Hopefully, he learned his lesson and will be more tolerant in the future.
the jws just walked away from my front door, while i'm sitting here on jwd.
my wife is home, sick from work so i didn't answer the door.
the funny thing is, they left the october 1, 2004 watchtower.
I love trick you played. I took a picture of The Time is at Hand with Luke 21:8 in the background and showed a witness, they almost puked. If I can ever figure out how to post a picture I'll upload it.
What is this about? Can someone post a link?
