okay, defd, i started a new topic so we won't continue to hijack panic attack's thread.

the reason why i didn't answer you back is twofold: (1) i'm at work and they kind of expect me to do other things besides post on jwd; (2) my husband chris (big tex) answered your question sufficiently for me so i didn't see a need to respond.. nina i am curious as to why you didnt finish our discussion and respond to my answer?

was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses, and i am very pleased to be able to offer my children the respect to make their own decisions about what to believe .

Trevor-------Thanks for explaining. I completely understand! If you will remember, I had some rather harsh words for you in the "question of conscience" post. Your words TRIGGERED such ANGER. So much so that I had to stop and think about why I was having this reaction! I am really in a time of change, and change is frightening. Still the "WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE" comment touched a NERVE! LOL

Willyloman-------Thanks for sharing the experience of your wife and yourself. It helped validate my own feelings. Your last thought is the conclusion I am striving for!

Trevor-----I almost didn't recognize you. Your avatar changed and so did the tone of your replies to def'd. You asked a good question, one for all to ponder. "We find it hard to understand how you are able to reject the Watchtower Society's advice and at the same time claim to follow it"? I think I realized some time ago that I reject rules, laws, advice, possibly even prophetic interpretation of the WT. The pain of sitting and listening to something that you question or may even completely disagree with is unbearable. I questioned my spirituality when these questions first surfaced, I even question my sanity. Fear-------oh yes! Had SATAN finally got me, after all these years. Still don't have the answers. Trevor------you displayed compassion, while still asking valid questions.

a question of conscience

how can you read all of the info on this forum regarding un scandal, alleged paedophilia, failed prophecies, u-turn on blood etc.

and not have your conscience affected before jehovah.

Derrick------ that was such an honest reply. It shows you are still struggling. You come to the JWD for reasons you may not even be aware of. You haven't been frightened or bullied away by the ones who would have you think just like them......NOW, RIGHT NOW! No one should ask that you leave what is so strongly entrenched. I find your loyalty to your GOD beautiful. Your words are not always eloquent, still you are thinking. Slowly your personality is emerging. I have noticed ones here at the JWD trying to listen more to what you have to say, trying to understand where your thoughts are coming from. I think there are some who remember where THEY came from. Others very clearly have forgotten. It is easy for them to claim ABUSE or wonder where you have run off to. Still YOU continue to return and to share in dialogue. I made the point somewhere earlier that you are not doing the WTS any favors for your contributions to the forum. Still you are a CONTRIBUTOR.

I broke down and cried when I read your story! It was so creatively written! It touched me. I confessed to the elders a sexual assault against me, somehow feeling it was my fault. I felt such shame! Over time and with some therapy I came to realize that I never should have disclosed this to these men. I sat in a room with three elders and my now ex-husband, one woman and four men and shared a very painful experience. I think now that even JAH wept for me! Thank you for your beautifully written story!!!!

Why do I say that? Because you all inform with logic. I have been reading for several months now. Not even sure how I found this site. I too was afraid to look, then afraid to register. Then I began to talk about the subjects with my ex-husband, who happens to be an ex-elder. I enjoy talking about this site, agreeing and disagreeing with the ex has been stimulating. Those are the best conversations we have these days. The dangerous part is that while I am not active in FS and haven't been for three years, I do still make some of the meetings. Problem is I listen different. I hear the circular reasoning. I see the hypocrisy. Often I hear out right lies. My faith has crashed on some levels and has been tweaked at other levels. I have new curiousity. One of my favorite writers right now is Terry, but I have several others. I like the creative thought process, I enjoy the humor on this board. By the way, I always look to see the responses of Df'd and he isn't doing the WTS ANY favors! That is why this is SUCH a dangerous PLACE!!!
