  watchtower theology is propped up by proof texts.. if the texts are inspired, the watchtower claims it is empowered to reveal the meaning.. but--consider how flimsy, inauthentic and unprovable the foundation of this teaching really is.. .

  consider the difference (if any) in meaning between these two renderings.. .

  1.all scripture is inspired by god and useful for teaching, reproving and setting things straight.. .

  Did you ever "feel" the holy spirt "apon you"?

  some jw's claimed that when they were out door to door that they could feel the angels guiding them and jehovahs spirt apon them.. others claimed this when having prayed felt a sense of calm afterwards.

  What an interesting topic and some thought provoking posts.

  Unfortunately a wasted 10 years as an elder and never once did i "feel" the holy spirit as defined by a religious experience. I had many discussions with some very religious non witness people who felt god guiding their every move and m yet here was I in gods own organization and never felt what they felt ever.

  The so-called holy spirit directed decisions of elder bodys is basically whatever the most popular point of veiw is at the time. If one elder has a very strong point of view and is influential over enough, his idea carries. Is that holy spirit in action? I don't think so...

  I have noticed that my 84 year old father-in-law who is an elder has been cutting himself off more and more from us. Even though we have NOT been DF/DA'd. He also keeps strong pressure on his wife to refrain.

  This kind of shit drives them further away. CRIMINAL really. I bet when he is incapacitated and needs help, we will have to help them. BUt in his last five minutes on this planet he is going to get an earful!

Tralagon isn't some bg thriving Metropolis [nothing personal just a two horse town!] There must be more to it in this place as far as the dubs are concerned! Is there an "alleged" pedophile there?

  i had no plans to turn up to the court hearing as an observer, as in my experience, it can take several hearings and a number of months before any court case gets rolling.

  1 year since my last meeting!

  i just realized that today marks my first year since attending a meeting at the kh... i really wanted to celebrate this day but it just creeped up and its kinda late now... i guess i'll celebrate tomorrow night instead.. but i wanted to log in to thank everyone who has helped me with their valuable insight and perspective... i came to this site with a typical judgemental jw mentality and now i can say i'm completely rid of all that... i now value everyone's opinions and talk more freely with people i used to consider "worldly"... what a completely freeing experience!.

  the hardest part of my exit from the cult was convincing my wife... that took about 6 months and i nearly gave up... thank god she eventually woke up.. also, in the past year i've read.... gentile times reconsideredcombatting mind controlcrisis of conscience*in search of christian freedomapocalypse delayed*3 books out of the 7 "studies in the scriptures"5 rutherford books*i met 2 of the people mentioned in crisis of conscience and apocalypse delayed and had dinner with them recently... hoping to build that relationship further.. i've also sent about 26 emails to several elders on a variety of subjects and 6 letters to the brooklyn and i'm still not da's or df'd!

  none of these emails or letters changed anything but it helped me purge.... i could go on and on but it's the same story you've probably read a thousand times already.. anyway, if it wasn't for all the support and encouragement i received on this site (as well as randy's site and barbara's site), i wouldn't be where i am today.. so a big thank you to you all!!!.
