  my sis just sent me a copy of the article which appeared in the ny times magazine about this ex-witness.

  she was shocked because it spells out all the things i told her about.

  i am sure they are not happy about publicity like this - especially when it makes its way into a paper with so wide a distribution as this!

  okay, i've been wanting to post about this anyway, but defd saying in his post that some people here are good and jehovah knows the condition of the heart.

  well i agree.

  so then, why is the preaching work necessary at all.

  What I remember is that there's only 1 way Jehover can tell what a person's heart condition.
  
  It is demonstrated by how a person reacts to the truf thus this is why the preaching work is so important...
  
  I guess if they don't hear the Kingdumb message before the end comes Jehover has to kill em' just to be on the safe side, or by default. (and then WE'RE bloodguilty)

  I can't really see this as trying to prove 607, I think they are only counting backward from that already well established date of 607 to show how scholarly they are by listing the 2 dynasties of Isreal and Judah(if you can call them that)

  if so, with what success?

  i mean if we reject religious customs that had pagan roots outright, then why not with the 1914 doctrine?

  I started reading this online but found it could only be taken in small doses,
  maybe my stomach is not used to such "rich" spiritual food!!
  
  In a discussion with my older brother, I challenged him to read this timely publication
  and see if if he thought Jehover could be behind it. Considering this was such an important
  time period in the evolution development of the organization, it should be worthy of our study.
  
  He actually replied "It could still be true you know, there's still time"!!

  Thanks Alan, I thought i've read things over the years in their literature, but as you say I haven't seen anything lately.
  Anyone know of any data or studies on the frequency or size of earthquakes in the past century, assuming better record keeping in the 20th century, it should show an increase as we get deeeper an deeeper into this time of the end (or even better a decrease)??

  If I understand the original UN debacle correctly, the problem wasn't because they were/are an NGO, but what they had to do to apply for association with DPI, which requires that they accept the charter and principles of the UN.
