How many have gotten interested in Human Services, Charity, Social Justice, Social Work and the like after awakening to Watchtower aberrance?
by Fernando inwhilst under watchtower influence i had little interest or awareness in these areas.. now they have become a passion.. i wonder if it has something to do with the "cult identity or self" versus the "authentic identity or self" as outlined by steven hassan in the "interacting with dual identities" chapter of his book "releasing the bonds - empowering people to think for themselves".. who has had a similar experience and/or change of career related to unplugging from the watchtower?.
or a story to tell?.

From being a JW found that the experience of approaching people when doing magazine street corner work, works great
when campaigning for a candidate you believe in. Found some really honest and hard working people running for office.
In fact, preaching house-to-house prepares one for being a polical and social activist.

and other Nazi's were able to escape to Argentina.

Are you sure joining or staying is a wise decision? Lurkers think twice. Part 1
by NewChapter ini'd like to call lurkers attention to the need of being discreet when contemplating joining or staying in the the jw religion.
my general observations on active jw's and how their lives are going.
the majority of them relate many beautiful ways their lives have turned out after joining but they refused to mention how rough and tough the journey truly is., here in america, we have received reports of many jws who terminated their lives because of the difficulty of coping with the cultish shunning and abandoment of those they love.

Staying is not being honest. The freedom of being honest with yourself comes with
a strength building character that grows and grows as seen in these many posts of
former JW's.

What Was Nathan Knorr Like Compared To The Other Presidents?
by AvocadoJake inbrother knorr is rarely mentioned in the awake or watchtower and i don't really know much about him.
is there a reason why brother knorr does not receive as much mention as brother russell, rutherford or even frantz?
can you help me understand why he was like?

His first speech as president was disappointing to the faithful; but he got better.
His new deputies wrecked havoc in my congretation. Our lovely brother, whom we all adored, was not allowed
to lead the congregation in song as he didn't go out in service. He was rudely told to get off the podium.
(This man came from a very prominent Cleveland family.)
No one could sit separately behind a table in the back of the hall, but had to sit with with the audience.
This all may seem minor, but our congregation was special with loving people who had endured the
Depression and the hardships of WWII. They were tolerant of one another and there was no hint of intolerance
between those who were well-to-do and those who were not.
Thanks for listening.

There was a wealthy building contractor in Cleveland, who hired young JW's out of prison after WWII
to give them a job for parole requirements. His family was strong in the organization, but do not believe
he was ever baptized.

Take some advice from an old women, be thankful she revealed herself before you got married. Don’t chase after her because
you don’t need someone like her in your life. If you haven't attended college or a trade school, do so now. Attend sporting events
catch the fever of a winning team. Try new cultural events. Campaign for someone if and when you discover you agree with their
goals.
