  What hoops would a DA'd person have to jump through to get reinstated?

  i know a woman in my ex congregation that da'd herself years ago and has been trying to get reinstated for the last 2+ years.

  i rememeber it was quite the scandle when she left because she sent out some apostate literature and started going to church.

  i can't imagine why she would go back to the lie after knowing it's history.

  Hi unbeliever,

  I tried several years back. First mtg. cried and told my story. (Different cong. in a different city). People were friendly as they didn't know my standing. Next mtg. what a change!! No one talked to me and heads turned my way w/that certain "stare". Obviously word got out from the elder's lips probably through his wife.

  He was supposed to contact my previous cong. Know what? Didn't hear from him for a year. I asked him what happened. Didn't give me a clear answer - just himmed and hawed around. Apologized for not getting back to me and said he was sorry. I told him he should be sorry as he didn't do his job and now I'm going my way and don't call me anymore.

  There are many hoops. I decided I was not going to put myself through it. Not emotionally healthy and they don't give a crap anyway. So unlike the Prodigal son illustration.

  Are Winter Olympics Boring?

  is it just me or are the winter olympics boring?.

  i dunno, maybe ice hockey sometimes is interesting and a few of the short speed skating events...but ice skating, all the skiing events, even snowboarding....it all seems pretty boring to me.

  and i like to ski but watching it on tv - boring.. the summer games are so much more interesting.. -eduardo

  I watch some of the Olympics. I thought the opening ceremonies was good. They had a Ferrari come out and do spins, etc. Other stuff was great!

  Sherry, Yes I saw Collateral. The story line stunk, but I have a hard time w/Cruise anyway. I don't like how his relationship is going w/Holmes - he's very controling and it reminds me of bad times w/religion. Juni

  GOOD ONE CLAM!!

  So far bird flu can only be passed on to humans from the birds. When it is able to pass from human to human WATCH OUT!

  Oprah had the top guy from CDC in Atlanta, GA on her program. He was trying to impress upon the audience and viewers the seriousness of not enough Federal funds given to develop a vaccine before it is able to pass between humans. If this happens and no vaccine ready, we are looking at a worse pandemic than the Spanish influenca.

  Again an irresponsible decision on the part of the Federal government.

  I agree with you LuckyNun.

  He won't feel the "pinch" when/if he stops being a JW. People magazine had him attending the SAG Awards party w/ his Hollywood friends. Like someone else said here, as long as he keeps the $ coming in they won't do anything to him too soon.

  WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BIG NO NO OF ASSOCIATING WITH THE 'WORLD'????? Quess it doesn't apply when you have the $.

  Very interesting information. Parallel in a lot of ways to JW religion because of the org. telling you what you can do and can't do down to the minuteness.

  I'd like to know how the women kept up their socks (string, buttons?) so they wouldn't fall down past their ankles. Loose, baggy underwear? That must feel great. And no p.j.s for the menfolk? Yep. RULE AFTER RULE.............................

  Sad news from Maui

  we went to our favorite beach, met up with some of our local friends.

  we don't have much in the way of details - but heard some devasting news that ari (well known to seattle area exjw's and i am sure by many on the board) killed himself sometime over last weekend.

  he was so excited about moving to maui, and starting a new life here.

  Dearest Makena and Sabine,

  I feel very sad to read about your losses - your friend and daughter. As you said, shunning cuts to the heart. I had a mental breakdown a year after I DA myself. Before I did that when I was out and about the witnesses whom I had known for many years would turn their heads. Probably in the gossip pipeline that I was doing horrific things.

  Shunning is emotionally damaging. I know that I was at the point of suicide, but my husband got me help. So I truly feel the pain that these two dear ones went through and from my husband the pain that the living would have.

  I, too, remember the ban of E.T. He was likened to Christ in the scene where he is giving life or the other way around to the little boy. A lot of the fairy tales were a no no too.

  I'll tell you what ladies. Being with a guy who is homosexual can be fun because you don't have to worry about him hitting on you. Just have a fun time. And I worked w/different lesbians. Very nice ladies. There's bad in individuals in all societies. I'm done with the days of judging. I believe in using your intuition and common sense which usually never fails you. You have to be careful too. Not all people, no matter what their choices are, are deserving of your trust and kindness. There are a lot of users and abusers out there.
