  for those outside nyc that stands for down under the manhattan bridge overpass.

  it's an up and coming area in which the society pulled building permits for 4 twenty story residence buildings with a connecting atrium and underground parking.

  the permits were pulled last year about this time (much to the annoyance of the locals) and when inquiries were made of local bethelites the word on the street became "the governing body hasn't decided whether or not to go through with the project.

  Welcome Sketchy!

  Very interesting information. Now if a family wanted to put an addition on their house because they needed the room, in some cong., they would be viewed as materialistic.

  This info sends shivers up my spine. I truly feel that they are doing this in the D.U.M.B.O area for future selling for a profit. BIG BUCKS.

  JWs and the holidays at work

  i had lunch this week with some business colleagues and one of them complained that at her office there is now a "no merry christmas" policy which includes not saying merry christmas, not decorating the office for christmas, no christmas party, no secret santa games or exchanging of gifts.

  i asked why all the rules and she said that there is one woman (out of nearly 150 employees) who is a jw and office management has decided the best way to handle the situation without excluding this woman or offending her in any way is to eliminate all reference to the holidays.

  as you can imagine the other employees are in an uproar.

  If the office workers only knew how many employees who are JWs eat B/day cake of fellow employees, eat turkey on Thanksgiving, send Mother's Day cards to mom, etc. etc.

  Same thing happened w/my husband's former employer. Called it a year end party because of the JWs working there. But in the case of 1 witness out of 150 employees, wow!! She must be very likable. Maybe too much association w/the worldly workers? Hmmmmmmmmmm

  Hi Serendipity!

  MY KIDS - because they all grew up to be fine citizens and productive workers and loving, caring people toward others.

  MY GRANDKIDS - 4 BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRLS AND 3 BOYS FULL OF ENERGY. They all bring such joy!

  MY WORK - FLORAL DESIGNER. Even though my health has curtailed my work in this area - I love working with design and flowers. Was in charge of the design work for our governor's parties.

  Need help - Movies that kids like

  hi all, i have my kids coming over with friends, age range 4-9, but as if that isnt enough i need to think of some movies (films) that i could give them to watch.

  i have the new harry potter, and wallace and gromit rabbit, plus charlie and the choco factory - any other suggestions!??!?!

  did you forfeit a college education, a great paying job which would've kept you from the meetings, a career, a trade, your loved ones, a vacation, etc.

  Good evening all -

  We missed out as a family. Not much time for recreation, down time, hurrying all the time getting 4 kids ready for mtgs. and assemblies. Gave up old friends. Religion really played havoc with our parents and siblings. Kids suffered from teachers because of being JWs. Kids gave up being in sports and other activities because they were not acceptable. Dealing w/depression with myself and my youngest son because of the religion. Just a lot of heartache because of the hypocrisy and judging by others. Juni ~~~~~~~
