when i was young (sigh) i had to go to the meetings, they always went overtime and man, were they dull.
no coloured pictures to look at in those days.
to amuse myself i used to play little games like how long could i hold the radiator pipe (hot).
In my last year or so as a JW,I sneaked out the hall and went to play the latest video and pinball games
at the local arcade (This was the early eighties) getting back just in time to hear the closing song
and prayer while I took my place again at the back.
Of course this had to come out and one member of my family said "If you're not interested why don't you just stay away?".
So I did ...
does anyone remember the great relief when we would have a slideshow from some travelling goon at the meetings?
i always enjoyed this since it was way more interesting than finding scriptures in the bible.
as time progressed, they seemed to quit doing this.
I remember an "official" (One coming from the WTS) slideshow which showed the origins of the catholic church as being pagan and such. This was in the early to mid seventies. Another slideshow I remember was an un-"official" one by a local elder who was very much into science and which tried to prove that there was an intelligent designer behind it all. It was one of the few times I was not bored during meetings :-) ...
did anyone catch the looney toons marathon the other week on boomerang?
i have to say that i always thought disney mickey mouse cartoons sucked and were never funny to me.
who would you rather watch -- mickey or bugs bunny?
I always preferred Tex Avery cartoons above Disney & Looney...
sirona's thread about bullying got me thinking.
there's another type of bullying, which, imho, can be far worse.
i'm talking about psychological bullying, where fear of a persons hysterical reaction forces us to act in manner that fits in with what the person wants.
>I wonder what the proper way to handle such a person would be? Confront them?
I would say confront them, because with such persons the dam will burst anyway sooner or later...
questions rise over imprisoning sex offenders past their terms
1 hour, 36 minutes ago
add top stories - the new york times to my yahoo!
This is where I mostly agree with right-wingers;sexual offenders should be given just two choices:Being locked
up in prisons specially made for them,in a desert somewhere far from the civilized world.Or commit suicide
using a method of their choice...
the last movie that i saw was radio.
the guy that plays radio act as an autistic preson like my brother, and i cried!
there was also this woman that would laugh when he did certain things and i wanted to tell her to shut up becuz it wasn't funny, she probably didn't kno the difference, but still.
"Kill Bill",comic strip violence at it's best and funniest ...
does anybody have opinions on apple mac computers,im thinking of getting one of those imac g4's
Some arguments against Apple computers:
-They are overpriced.
-The "architecture" is not made available to other manufacturers,so your stuck
with Apple forever, and they can ask what they want for their products since there is no competition.
-The "look" of their machines is horrible,I mean:one of their laptops looked very much like a toiletseat... :-)
for the past several years, i have become very interested in metaphysics.
i've taken courses in studies called "sacred geometry" and "hyperdimensional physics" with professors from u.c.
berkeley and u.c.
Those interested in sacred geometry should definitely check out Drunvalo Melchizedek's
"The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life" (vols 1 & 2).
Another great book is "A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe:
Mathematical Archetypes of Nature, Art, and Science" by Michael Schneider...
