They tried the same thing around here.It didn't go over too well, trying to shame brothers into submission,a real power trip by the CO,caused a lot of damage and yes,it's using women, not a real display of respect.

i am new to the board and am looking forward to many insightful discussions here.. a good friend of mine attends a congregation where sisters are working behind both the literature and magazine counters.
the brothers who were handling those responsibilities were removed because in the elder body's opinion, none of them were "exemplerary".police officer explained that save for the elders and a few of the ministerial servants, none of the men in the congregation were meeting the national average in field service time, so for the foreseeable future, "exemplerary".
the irony here though is that the same men who are unfit to handle the literature and magazine counters are qualified to offer opening and closing prayer for meetings and do reading for the watchtower study.
in the interest of completeness, i will post this part of my notes as well, even though it was not as controversial as other parts.
more controversial and/or ridiculous astatements to follow in later postings.
talk 9: preparing talks for the congregation - brothr local elder
I would venture to say this material is just recycled baloney from Elders' School Past.
Pretty much following the general theme of fear, obligation and guilt.

i had a talk with my father last night about the practice of disfellowshipping.my father is an active jw with privileges in the local hall.he doesn't seem in total agreement with the shunning practice of the wts,and he brought out the example of the prodigal son.we had a good discussion and i'm going to research it some more through the chapter on the misuse of disfellowshipping in the book in search of christian freedom.. anyways,i thought i'd look it up in the reasoning book to see what the wts reasoning on disfellowshipping was.it turns out it's not in the table of contents or in the index.i thought this odd;how would one reason on this with a householder who asks about it?
why is there nothing in the reasoning book on a subject every jw says is scriptural?.

Thanks for the comments guys.I had to laugh at uncle Gary twist on it,I'm sure the jw's don't like it when they're fed their own self-righteous medicine.
Thanks for that quote Blondie,I guess they did slip it in there. They just didn't bother explaining it in a reasonable manner or how it relates to the parable of the prodigal son.
I remember one time a sister called my wife to tell so-and-so was getting df'd next week,so if she wanted to talk to her,she should do it now.I thought HOW STUPID!!! If all the jw's know this person is getting df'd,do they need the elders to tell them they can talk to her anymore.I can talk to her today but I won't be able to tomorrow??? What stupid reasoning. It just showed me how these people can't make their own decisions, they need somebody else to tell who they can associate with and who they can't associate with.

i've been thinking lately about how i can get my family out of the organization.
my dad was once an elder (has been df'd once).
my mom was once a regular pioneer (hasn't in over 10 years and doesn't even work).
Send an article about Prov. 4:18 along with a bit of research that shows that this scripture is being misinterpreted by the WTS.

continuing this morning's notes, in the same format.... talk 5: overview - organized to do jehovah's will - brother bethel-coot.
synopsis: general high level review of contents of new "organized to do jehovah's will" (od) book.
pointed out how to use index (duh!
I remember an elder giving a talk on pioneering once.He said young people could work at Subway or Tim Horton's to support themselves and their pioneering.Meanwhile he's working for a unionized company making over $30/hour! A lot of people made comments afterward, how misleading and hypocritical that was to suggest young people should take minimum wage jobs.

sorry we're a bit late for the downunder mob, but you in the regions of the northern hemisphere may still be enjoying your weekend.. misspeaches: you could read this when you get to work in the morning, eh?
anyway, as promised in an earlier thread, it'd be amusing to compare notes on this one:.
what part of the magazines did you look at first?.
5.The study articles
I always thaught that was where the real meat was, then I'd look at them to find all the backwards reasoning they used to influence and control people.I still look at those articles when the wife brings the mags home just to see what controlling studies they're coming up with these days.
