Shunned!!

i work at target.

back in the good ole' days, witnesses used to come in all the time to see me.

i would say that there were maybe three or four families that came in regularly.. since the announcement was made though, i've had at least 35 diiferent people come in.

The best revenge is a life well lived. I have a number of of JWs that I run into from time-to-time from my old KH, and they expect me to be sad and discontent. Yet, I am always smiling, and usually happy. They expect us 'postates to be so fearful of Jehober's wrath, and to be shamed by their lame attempts at shunning, but when when we show them that we are happy to be free of the shackles that the WTB&TS tapped us into they don't know how to deal with it.

Glad to see your joy & happiness.

Keep it up. Som many of us are pulling for you.

Need Help With A Statement About J-Dubs

tonight in my apologetics class the professor, in the syllabus, stated the following: .

"during this 1,000 year period, people will be resurrected and have a second chance to recieve eternal life by following the principles of jehovah's organization on earth known as the watchtower bible and tract society.

for some reason, this statement struck me as wrong.

Tonight in my Apologetics class the professor, in the syllabus, stated the following:

"During this 1,000 year period, people will be resurrected and have a second chance to recieve eternal life by following the principles of Jehovah's Organization on earth known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society."

For some reason, this statement struck me as wrong. I vaguely recall some teachings stating that though JWs have "eternal life" they do not have "eternal salvation," as stated above. In other words, that during the millenium and even in the eternal paradise, people can still sin and be destroyed by Jehovah. If anyone could post some definitive articles that either confirm or deny this state could you please direct me to appropriate place.

in my case, it was always the length of the meetings that bothered me.. no matter what meeting it is, you have to get there prepared, and that means lots of time reading the darn literature.. another thing that would irritate me, is all the magazines that come in faster than i can read.. i'll let you guys add to this list.. .

Hearing Mary Cooper's (of Manna-Min fame) 3 hour comments, in which she informed everyone in the Hell, that her & hubby (Doug Cooper) had been around since Judge Rutherford's days.

Having to stay awake during the endless monotonous drone of JW meetings.

Being asked, "You're So-and-so's son, aren't you?" As if I don't exist.

Not being able make one mistake, because of the "reproach" I might bring on my father.

When you were a JW, did anyone ask you a question that caused you to doubt?

no dotrinal question could shake me, but it was a personal one, out in service that started my initial doubts.

a man asked me: 'are you really happy?

' i couldn't say, 'no, i'm miserable' but i thought it was a powerful question, anyone else asked something that really shook them?

Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day

i have some very good armenian friends, and this is a very solemn day for them.

nearly all the armenian owned businesses i know of are closed today.

i don't know if i should blame my secondary education (high school) or the fact that the holocaust gets all the "press" for my lack of knowledge on this topic, but i never heard of this massacre until i was working in glendale, ca (which has the highest population of armenians outside of armenia).. .

Watchtower "Worship"

let's discuss "watchtower worship"....or the understanding of the idea of "worship".

this is defined as "a reverence for god" in my dictionary.

I agree with your statements wholeheartedly. I believe that there is no "worship" within the JWs. The meetings are either indoctrination sessions (Public Talk, WT Study & Cong. Book Study) or sales meetings (TMS & Service Meeting). The reason is simple. The JWs view field service as their "worship.

"False Prophecies or Wrong Expectations" how do JW's decide between the 2?

i have mentioned before that my jw's mother who has been a "devout" jw's since 1965 has defended the wts for over 40 years.

when i mention "false prophecies" and the wts she always says that jw's are not false prophets they just had several "wrong expectations".

i am so confused on this because i am wondering just what do jw's consider a "false prophet"?

What Bible Characters Fascinated You?

i grew up like alot of you on my book of bible stories with all the beautiful illustrations .

thinking back the characters that i was most fascinated with were those like jezebel, delilah, queen vashti etc.

being a young teenage girl, to me they seemed way more interesting.

None of them really. The WTB&TS painted most of them as so holy that they farted marble. I grew up thinking that their level of holiness or relationship with God was something that I could never attain to. Then I became a Christian, and I realized that they were just plain people with hang-ups like mine.

Abraham was afraid. Isaac was a momma's boy. Jacob was a con man. Joseph was a brat. Moses was insecure. David was a philanderer as was Solomon. Peter was impulsive & prejudiced. Paul had a temper. John & James were momma's boys and brown nosers.

The other thing that I determined was that women are, for the most part, portrayed in a positive light in the Bible. Sarah, Rebbekah, Rachel, Zipphorah, Rahab, Jael, Naomi, Ruth, Abagail, Esther, Mary (Mother of Jesus), Mary Magdalene, etc.

ELDERS AND PARANOIA

hehe i hope thats how its spelt.. if you had family members that were elders did you ever notice the paranoia they had????

or maybe its my dad in particular?????.

they things he accused me off was unbelievable, we were never allowed to do anything to ruin his standing as an elder.

My room was constantly searched, therefore I learned carpentry, and made items with false bottoms . I was an elder's kid, but I was always held to a standard higher than anyother elder's kid. I never wrote in a journal, except at school (and that journal was burned on the last day of school). Even in that journal, I could not be truthful, because I knew the trouble I would get into if a teacher called my parents about something in the journal.

My eyes opened once I read 1984, and I saw an allegory of life as a J-Dub. The fear of independent thinking. The fear of individuality. The confusion of unity with uniformity. There is so much that I learned from that book. I am forever in the debt of George Orwell.
