Memorial Season
by moomanchu ini was wondering if someone ever made up a tract or card similar to what the witnesses hand out.
for the memorial , but with the opposite agenda , maybe with some thought provoking questions or scriptures .. like : why do you celebrate the memorial christ is already present since 1914 .

It seems to me that the memorial practices have pagan origins, like most things associated with Christianity. The symbolic drinking of blood, and eating of flesh doesn't sound like something God would approve of.

Do you believe in ghosts?
by Country Girl ini am posting this because i know there are many people that have had experiences that cannot be explained by natural means.
i am a ghost hunter, as a hobby.
my hobby is to disprove ghosts.

Yes I believe, if a ghost is the same as a spirit. I have never seen any but I know people who claim that they have. Once when I lived in NYC a friend came over to my apartment and said that she saw a man standing in the corner who looked like a doctor from the clothes he was wearing. I asked a couple of neighbors and found out that a man who used to be a doctor had indeed died in the apartment.

The generation that saw the generation of 1914!
by Gill ini have been today hotly debating with my jw parents about the 1914 'problem' and how the generation that saw the signs will soon be dead and gone and 'then what you gonna do!
' said i all smug like.
i was then informed that 'the generation that will by no means pass away' now meant all of those that were born during the lifetime of those who saw the beginning of the signs in 1914!.

I can hear the society's explanation already. "The light keeps getting brighter". Does this qualify as an "adjustment"?

Do you believe that ancient humans once had advanced technology?
by Elsewhere inthis is something that has been tossed around for some time, but something occurred to me: if ancient humans did have advanced technology, such as space travel, we would know about it.
the reason i say we would know about it is because they would most certainly have left objects in orbit around earth.
yes, the low-orbit objects would have eventually fallen back due to the drag of the upper atmosphere.

What about Area 51? Do you believe the stories that the gov't has "aliens" and their spacecraft hidden away out in the desert? I read a good book called "Chariots of the Gods" that talked about the technology that may have existed throughout history. It even talks about Bible references that could support the idea of life on other planets, and space travel.

Thanks for welcoming me in, and for all the interesting responses. My condolences to those who have lost someone recently. I lost my mom in May(she was a JW). I still feel her presence occasionally, so I guess she's finally free of the brain washing.

Hi all, forgive me and my n00bness if this has been discussed, or if I started this thread in the wrong place. How does everyone feel about death, and what happens to you afterward? Do you still believe what the WTS teaches? Or has your mind been opened to other possibilites? Personally , I now believe that after our bodies die our spirit or soul lives on. Our living energy just takes on another form, or something.

Jay-Hovah uh-huh / uh-huh
by prophecor indoes anyone know what the deal is with rapper sean carter, aka jay-z and his refering to himself as jay-hovah?
its a pretty close call naming yourself such by jw standards possibly bordering on blasphemy.
does anyone know if he may've been associated with jw's at some time, and if he was, whether his choosing of the name might be a response to his no longer believing the teachings of jws?

Many rappers refer to themselves as "god's". I think it's just Jay-Z's way of doing that. I never heard that he or his mom were JW's. The Notorious BIG's mother is a JW.

Christmas tradition - for kids
by Dawn ini initiated a christmas tradition with my son when he was little and have continued it all these years - thought i'd share it with you in case you have little ones.. since my kids just can't wait to open their presents, i wrap one special gift for them to open x-mas eve.
it's always the same thing - brand new pajamas and a cuddly toy for bed time.
my kids absolutely loved this christmas eve tradition.

Hi. I'm new around here, and I was wondering what you(everyone who wants to respond) teach your children about Christmas. Do you teach them that it's the birthday of Jesus? Or that it's just a day that everyone exchanges gifts? Just curious.
