The LOVE among JWs is an act.
by HomebutHiding inas can be learned from reading my posts, i have been really questioning belief systems lately.
yesterday, while browsing at barnes & noble, i noticed several religious books, each espousing its cure for human weakness.
i remembered how it was of utmost importance as a jw that others see the love we had, since we alone had the holy spirit, and christ's followers would be easily recognized by this love.

Does God Really Care?
by Undecided ini'm wondering about god lately.
is he really in touch with the earth at all?
how much trouble would it be for him to bring a rain in colorado to stop the fires and save the houses of those people?

Witnesses Are Great Folks
by FrankRaven ini know i'll get a lot of flack from this, but witnesses are good folks.and your average witness is concerned about you,non-witness.i've been there and i almost became one.my ex did become one.
it's not what they are taught by the watchtower,it's how one is taught.if one was what a witness was taught there wouldn't be any witnesses.it's how one is taught.most of the witnesses always told me,if you have any questions there's a book by the society that will answer your question.
(s)the watchtower is persistent.well so was i.the more books i read that the watchtower wrote, the more questions i had.and i,always, made sure i stayed on the topic.they never did.they always avoided my questions.and they are real good at that.

Memorable Prayers meetings / assemblies???
by invisible inany outstanding prayers that you can remember / recall?.
we had one brother here who was renowned for his very long prayers, sometimes running to as much as 15 minutes in length.
congregational members would have to leave halfway through to catch taxi's etc, he was a dear old soul though, in his younger days before he kicked the bucket, he was a wheelwright, probaly one of the last of his particular craft, repairing horse drawn carriages.. another brother at the convention was known for the shortest prayer, he just said thankyou 3 times and that was it.. once we had the co visiting, george hilton his name was, cheerful old sod from yorkshire, it was the aux pio and reg pio meeting.

THANK GOD THE PRESS NEVER GOT HOLD OF IT!
by bay64me ini used to pioneer with a lady that was in her fifty's, brought up in the 'truth' and one of her boasts was that through the efforts of her mother, over a hundred people had been brought in.
over a period of time she revealed many things that had gone on within the organisation one of them being a case of sexual abuse by a special pioneer that had been sent to the area.
his victims were the young boys of a lady that was kind enough to give him a room to stay.

The friends, the truth and loaded language
by detective inas many people already know, using the term "the truth" to describe an organization's teachings is a brilliant way to constantly reaffirm it's validity subconsciously.
it's a great use of repetition to establish as fact that which is only opinion.. i keep hearing the phrase "the friends".
aside from the fact that i really don't like the terminology, i couldn't help but wonder if this isn't just another use of repetition and loaded language to enforce the belief that all of the people who share the same religion actually are your friends.. in some ways, i think it would be beneficial for some folks to drop "the truth" and "the friends" from their vocabulary so that they aren't continuing to immerse themselves in group-lingo that's intended to elicit certain emotional responses and associations.. what other loaded language can you come up with that is quasi-specific to jehovah's witnesses?
