Hi Guys, Here is the link to the Freedom of Information Office and a form to request information. I believe that the WBTBS is required to file "Returns" on their financial activities and that that information is probably in the "public domain". We just need to follow up and search under every rock until we get all the facts! Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond. Covers 13,000 yeras (gasp) of human history in 450 pages. For non-fiction it is fairly interesting reading. He explains why certain cultures are the way they are today. Aboriginies to New Yorkers. Also has deatiled discussion on evolution. hehehe

2004 Service Report - Analysis and trends for 2005
by truthseeker inby now, most of you will have seen the scanned images of the watchtower's service report for 2004. i do not have the feb 1st magazines, so i cannot speculate further on the reason for not issuing the report in the january 1st 2005 wt.
looking at the figures, there are some trends that should be considered very disturbing to the wt leadership.
although baptisms increased marginally by 3,571, the difference between the average number of publishers and the number of baptisms is eye-popping indeed.

Your comment " I think it is equally plausible that growing numbers of inactive witnesses simply "hang around" the organisation in one form or another, unable to leave it, but also unable to re-commit to the door-knocking activity" is quite accurate.
I also think it is more of a drag on the organization having these "hanger ons" around than if they left completely. The R&F is more likely to be negatively affected by their lack of interest and this might carry more weight than direct attacks from outside. The rot usually occurs internally because an outside attack brings any group together, even if for a very short period of time.
Thanks Truthseeker for you fine works. I just love to watch these numbers and the direction they are headed.
For a numbers organization it must be everso humbling. :)

Good point about counting different islands of the same country as different "lands". The Borg also does this same feat of mental gynmastics with Hawaii and Alaska.
What would the estimate be of the % of those being baptised that are immediate family members?. Extended family? As mentioned before in a good post about applying business practices to the Trooth then it is important to look into the deeper fiqures to see where your customers are coming from. Then once you know that source, then you put extra effort into that area. With the Borg it is all smoke and mirros as they will do anything, say anything to keep themselves in business. The most successful businessess are often the ones who do not put the profit motive first. By having a passion for excellent they attract a loyal following that is pleased to give them their business thereby in the long run become very profitable. Often these companies are run by one person with a burning desire for excellence and wants to share that vision.
Once the second generation, usually a comittee, takes over the trend is downward until the next savior.

Good point Joker10. The numbers are almost meaningless. But from year to year we can "discern" trends as long as they are consistently reporting the numbers. The WTBTS makes such a big deal out of the numbers especially so to prove Joe Hover's blessing that it is great fun to turn their own numbers (and words) back on them. shame on them. battman
