Hey more on weddings!

hey everyone...just to piggyback off of the wedding vs birthdays...something i wanted to say for a while.

ok so we're not allowed to celebrate birthdays but we can have wedding celebrations.

the reason for not having birthdays and most other holidays is the pagan!!!

The Honeymoon originated before the wedding

Miriam-Webster defines honeymoon as “a period of harmony immediately following marriage“. However, in the beginning, the honeymoon existed long before the marriage ceremony came into being.

The first recorded appearance of the term honeymoon came in 1546 - but the ritual goes back much further. In earliest days, the man simply abducted the woman of his choice and took her into hiding. This lasted at least as long as it took for her angry relatives to stop searching for her. Normally, this was about one month, as marked by the phases of the moon. Thus the “moon” in honeymoon.

While in hiding, the couple would partake of mead - a wine made of water and old honey. According to Pliny the Elder, it consisted of “one part of old honey” and “three parts of water”. The mixture was then left in the sun for forty days, though, according to Pliny, some left it to ferment only nine days. Pliny went on to say, “with age it attains the flavor of wine”. As time passed, it was believed that, if the couple drank mead daily during the honeymoon, they would be assured of the birth of sons. One has to wonder how much mead Henry VIII would have drunk! Anyway, the mead provided the “honey” part of the honeymoon.

Symbolism of the Honeymoon

The term honeymoon is packed with symbolism. The mead, or honey wine, is sweet and symbolizes the particular sweetness of the first month of marriage. It is a time free of the stresses and tensions everyday life puts on the relationship as time goes on. The moon symbolizes the phases or cycles of the couple’s relationship as it waxes and wanes from full moon to full moon. Like the moon, the couple’s relationship would have its brighter moments and its darker ones. Being tied in with the moon cycle, the one-month period of time was considered associated with the woman's menstrual cycle, and thus, fertility.

Of course, the notion of hiding away during their honeymoon has led to the present practice of couples keeping their plans secret. Though the reason has changed. No longer is it fear of physical violence, in most cases anyway, but rather, to keep nosy relatives and friends from invading the couple’s privacy.

Why I Loved the 2007 Convention "Follow the Christ"!

i attended friday's part of the 2007 district convention "follow the christ" with my believing wife.

we survived the limited parking and crowded seating (although large sections of the auditorium had been shut off).

we suffered the monotonous program delivered by robotic speakers reading rehashed outlines.. so why did i love this convention?.

I believe there must be three genders in the coming paradise masculine,feminine and neuter(asexual).

The neuter resurrected person will have no female plumbing or vagina or breasts or balls or penis or erection capabilities.

Ken and Barbie dolls with just a urethra like a valve stem on a tire.

They will be physically neutral not weaker or stronger as male and female are.

They will only be capable of growing mustaches.

What a hope to look forward to for dead loved ones, actually less of a life than you can have right now.

Baptism numbers down. Is this a worldwide trend?

i just found out that from the dc i was assigned to that 17 got baptized this year.

this was great news to me.. that is a huge decline from previous years, with the average each year being about 50-55 at the dcs.

i've noticed at the cas and sads the baptism numbers have decreased steadily over the years.

A single guy decided life would be more fun if he had a pet. So he
went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an
unusual pet. After some discussion, he finally bought a centipede
(a 100-legged bug) that came in a little white box which served as
the bug's house.

He took his purchase home, found a good location for the box, and
decided he would start off by taking his new pet to church with
him.

So he asked the centipede in the box, "Would you like to go to
church with me today? We will have a good time."
But there was no answer from his new pet.

This bothered him a bit,but he waited a few minutes and then asked
him again,"How about going to church with me and receive
blessings?"

but again,there was no answer from his new friend and pet.
So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation. He
decided to ask him one more time;this time putting his face up
against the centipede's house and shouting,
"HEY IN THERE! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TO CHURCH WITH ME AND LEARN ABOUT THE LORD?"
And a little voice came out of the box.........
"I heard you the first time.......I'm putting on my shoes."

Question: Why was it ok to sell unbled meat to a foriegner for them to eat?

hello all... ok, i have a question for any takers: deuteronomy 14:21 says this:.

21 "you must not eat any body [already] dead.

so, it is obvious that this is why they could not eat a animal that they found that had died, say from natural causes.

The rule against eating unbled meat of animals not killed by humans clearly falls under the mosaic law. Either that or the god of the old testament is a hypocrite.

Then there is the Noahic everlasting covenant for all humans to abstain from blood, but that isn't in effect when there is a buck to be made by God's chosen people.

During the summer vacationing season blood bank levels can drop very low. The last time I checked the kingdom hall wasn't doing blood drives like other churches do. Do your part and donate who knows an apostate could save the life of a JW who needs blood fractions.

Hypocrites? yup!
