  Anyone else serve as a juror ?

  just finished jury duty today, what a pain in the behind.. now i can't sleep, keep thinking about everything.. judicial system seems like a big bueracratic waste of money.. i found the oaths here in pa interesting though :.

  the oath is part of centuries-old language still in use in most courtrooms.

  pennsylvania's oath is derived from colonial laws of the commonwealth, enacted in 1772, and reads: "you [and each of you] do swear by almighty god, the searcher of all hearts, that the evidence you shall give this court [and jury] in this issue now being tried shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth and as you shall answer to god on the last great day.".

  That oath would have me fuming as an Atheist I wonder if they would dismiss you if you tell them you are an Atheist?

  You can do an affirmation with your choice of wording to fit your circumstance.

  There is something going on in North Carolina also, muslims want to use the koran for the oath.

  It was a learning experience.

  I have another week to go...I don't mind it overmuch. I bring a book and take it all in stride...it's SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING than sitting in a district convention for eight hours that's for sure. :)

  My trial was for injury caused by a motor vehicle accident, pretty quick thank god.

  Much more interesting than any meetings I agree. Others were complaing about sitting but not me, I was just getting my second convention day wind.

  Seems a bit over the top, but it does put you in a certain frame of mind.

  as jw's we weren't supposed to get that old and fall sick, all depending on how old we were when we joined.. but time is passing by and we are getting older, and sicker and uglier....lol.

  was it hard for you to accept that you will one day die, after being told that paradise is just around the corner?.

  Why must observers attend the Kingdom Halls for the Memorial?

  jesus had only 12 members attend and partake the last meal and memorial.there were no observers in the room.each disciple was given bread to eat and wine to drink.there is no mention of other people in the room who couldn't eat or drink the last meal.this was only for those who would partake of this meal.. why does the wts feel that observers need to be at this yearly event?

  why can't the elders who(supposedly) have any 144,000 in their congregations,have a memorial with only these members?

  if jesus wanted observers he would of had some at his last meal and requested that they be present from then on..

  I always thought it was comical when the ms and elders passed around the emblems to themselves and the speaker.

  It was like a Three Stooges or Benny Hill skit.

  I always wondered why do they pass it around anyway, just state whoever wants to partake may now come forward and partake.

  i thought it would be a good idea to have a thread about this given the season.. i have some ideas rolling around in my head but i haven't researched them enough to make a really good argument or point.. does anyone have links to other threads or web sites about this topic.. help me and others give a reply to the ones who are taunting us.. .

  I like your logic.

  Yes your invited to the Lords evening meal. There will be bread and wine for you to look at and pass around but you can't have any.

  Imagine inviting people over for dinner and sitting around a table looking at the food then passing it around after an hour or so you then send them home.

  I also like the sayings of "celebrating the Lords supper" or "observing the Lords evening meal". When you think about it The annointed who partake of the emblems are the only ones who actually observe or celebrate the memorial or eat the last supper. A non-annointed doesn't observe or celebrate the Lords supper because they don't partake. So for non-annonted ones to observe the definition of observe would have to be looking at or see a annoited one celebrating the lords supper.

  Does that make sense?

  Watchtower Letter on literature change dated Feb-9.2007!

  just in case some of the folks may have wanted this letter for their records.

  at the bottom of this letter the watchtower states, "this new arrangement for publishing the watchtower will take effect in january 2008.. it is nice to know that the watchtower feels that armageddon can be delayed until then!.

  I love to e-mail this kind of thing to my JW relatives. I believe it makes them curious and bewildered that

  this stuff is on the internet. I hope that maybe they'll start searching for the information themselves and have their eyes opened up.

  One other thing how does The Awake circulation increase when they get rid of half of the magazines?
