  i need to know if it's ok for me to convert and become a jehovah's witness to be with the love of my life.

  i need to know what you think about this idea.

  simplesally said it well:

  People should never convert FOR someone else...we should make changes for ourselves.

  It's a life changing commotment you are thinking of making, and one where you would not be the centre of her universe, even if she is at yours. Many people make these sort of changes for other people, and it seems good for a while. But when the realisation sets in of everything that you have to change, you start to resent the person that you made changes for.

  If you're not everything to her now, I'm sorry to say that you never will be!!

  Just my opinion, for what it counts....

  I think ohiocowboy got it right - lets face it, who'd want to go back to that way of life just because it is the truth, only to be 'rewarded' with everlasting with them.... starting of as a**holes and becoming perfect a**holes!!!

  do they think that if you had less happiness in life you would be driven back?.

  my mum once exclaimed very bitterly that i had "landed on my feet" too many times and that i would probably have been back at the kh if things hadn't gone so well in my life.. englishman.

  just recently, npy and myself were at a party and the subject came up as to how we knew six.

  i found myself hesitate to explain that our connection was that we had all been jehovah's witnesses.. after i told them...it was no big deal.

  they all explained how they had been penecostal and catholic and they had their abusive stories to tell... we were all the same.. .

  I think the WTBTS has as much power as we are prepared to give it...

  When you're a dub, it's an all powerful, all knowing, infallible force.

  Now that we're out - we see it for what it is - a group of men claiming to have the only vehicle in mankinds never-ending search to be closer to God. It has no hold over us any longer, or does it ???? Am I the only one here who still occasionally thinks 'dub' thoughts ? What about those of us unlucky enough to have family still inside - It still weilds a control over us that we write off as 'respect to their beleifs', when avoiding taboo subjects like birthdays, xmas, and even disfellowshipping - I know I have shyed away in the pst from talking to an old friend, 'out of respect'.....

  Maybe it does have more power than we realise after all!!

  mine is from friday, the movie with ice cube, where a couple of jw ladies wake up ice cube's character's family one morning and there's some mouthing off, and you wouldn't believe the nasty words coming out of these sweet looking old "sisters".

  I agree with you 100% there. IMO, I think it's fair to say that ALL our families truly want us to be happy, but when still under control of the JW cult (getting to like that word!), their perception of happiness is somewhat 'skewed'.

  If you call unquestioning acceptance of control of my life, thoughts and feelings 'happiness', than quite honestly I'd prefer to be *miserable*...

  .... at least then I wouldn't feel alone "Misery loves company"

  A Question For Those of You With Cats

  do any of you have cats that like to eat fruit?

  the reason i ask is that my siamese loves fruit.

  I've always had cats, and I luv em!!

  I have a Chocolate Point Persian called Kashmir, that loves crisps!! First time I had a poppadum I thought he was going to have a seizure!! He let's you know he wants something by putting his paw on you. If you ignore him, the claws start pressing in!!! He's as gentle as they come.

  My mom has a lovely 'moggie' that is playfully named 'Psychomog'. She'll sit and purr on your knee for ages, then all of a sudden growl and bite you, then run off!! Females, huh!!

  One of my friends had a cat that loved to steal curry if you put your plate on the work surface.... I had an extremely hot curry one night - so hot I couldn't eat it in one sitting, so I put it in the kitchen. Later, we heard the cat hissing and went to see what was wrong, and it was growling at my curry, ears flattened, and batting the plate with it's paw!! We were in fits!!! Poor cat! LMAO!!

  I won't give my cat Pork of any description - was told by a vet that they can't digest it properly. Think I'll look into that one a little deeper... see if it's just an urban myth.

  Just a quick warning to all you 'cat lovers'.... beware, you're practice may be illegal in your country!!
