I always nursed anywhere, any time. Though I was very discreet and showed no skin so usually no one even knew. I would never go into some smelly, germy restroom to feed my baby.
Yes, in America we're the worst about discriminating against breastfeeding. It's very different in *most* parts of the world.

15 the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
My take on this scripture is of seeking help from trusted friends, fellow believers, in the form of prayer, not for forgiveness. Seeking out someone else to support you, help where needed, and pray for you when you can't handle something alone. I don't see it as seeking a judgement, or a redemption of your sins.
If everyone helped instead of judged, maybe people, especially witnesses, wouldn't be so leery of confiding in others.
i know there was another thread of "how many people did you bring in the truth," but how many people did you bring out of the truth?

I've never brought anyone OUT, but I have been the sole support for about four doubting witnesses, three who are sort of fading, and one who is out.
I'd never push anyone, but have learned how valuable it can be for someone just to be heard and not judged, and to have a source for reliable information to point them to.

i understand how the remote works, that you get a box,etc.
I LOVE my TIVO. I never watch live TV anymore. I always have 90 hours of my favorite programs waiting for me. We've tried a few of them and TIVO is, in my opinion, by far the best. I'll be crushed if it goes away.
I consider myself an expert, so feel free to pm me with any questions when you get it.

The official word may be that you have to preach to be a witness, but I've talked to countless inactive people over the years who've stopped going to meetings, haven't preached in years, but when asked will proudly insist that they're one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
I think to the individual it's a mindset.

Also consider the fact that he's been around the block a few times, being an elder in age and an "elder". It's very possible he's heard the gist of your reasons for leaving over and over. If he is loving and kind-hearted as you say, many people have probably confided in him over the years. I'll bet, although your circumstances may be specific to you, that he's heard the general reasons before, has pondered them, and has justified his faith in his mind.
I wouldn't worry that you've might have rocked his faith. Instead be glad that you and he have had polite, open communication despite disagreeing about "the truth".

i'm easy to influence, but once i'm back alone, i do what i wanted to do originally.

It's hard to learn to be discriminate in what you let influences you when you've always had your beliefs handed to you on a platter. In the last five years out, I think I've done a pretty good job. I've developed a new belief system, and take nothing at face value. I've learned to question even the things I hold dear. It was soooo hard at first, but the peace of mind and strength of character is worth it.

what about it...i know for me i got gifts throughout the year but i didnt get as many as my friends did on their birthdays etc....what about you...do you or did you replace b/days and christmas gifts or celebrations with anything else whilst being a jw and in particular anything as personal....
We did get toys and things throughout the year, and on our parents' anniversary, but never wrapped.
But what was missing was the excitement of anticipation, knowing something really fun was coming, just for me. Then seeing the box, wrapped in bright-colored paper and tied with curly ribbons. Somebody went to the trouble to wrap that and make it pretty just for me. Then tearing it open, what is it? what is it?
You just can't get that kind of fun from tossing an extra toy into the Walmart basket.
To this day I look at a nicely wrapped present with awe.

Yes, enjoying a good ghost movie! Without fear of immediate demon possession. I'd never known the thrill of a good thriller when you look at it as just entertainment.

Wrapping Christmas and birthday presents for my children.
Deciding for myself what entertainment is okay.
Having my evenings free!!!
