  That was good!

  About haggis, I was at a Tannahill Weavers concert some years ago and Roy Gullane was the great story teller explaining the songs and tunes they were doing. One particular tune was 'The Haggis'. He explained to the audience that haggis looked kinda like a football and you didn't know whether to cook it or kick it. After you cooked it you'd know the mistake you made!

  I actually did have some very good Haggis once at a Burns Night supper but I think it was made with New Zealand lamb and so not really authentic.

  it was 36 years ago today.. the watchtower has caused far more deaths due to the blood transfusion ban and the suicides from disfellowshipping.

  unfortunately, these deaths are mostly invisible to the public, since they didnat occur at once and in one location.. .

  I was just two years married and had an 8 month old baby when Jonestown happened. I sometimes kick myself that I didn't take my thoughts at the time further down the road. I read the defining aspects of a cult and lokked at my husband and said "by that definition WE are in a cult...Christianity itself is a cult going back to following a man, Jesus"

  But I didn't follow through to the next steps. I shoved it all into that box in my mind along with other things over the ensuing years until I guess the box became quite overstuffed and exploded. It took another 20 years however for that to happen 😒

  can somebody put it in this separate thread - it's important.. he says how billions of innocent children and other inoffensive people will not get to enjoy their ice cream, as they are about to be annihilated.

  they count less than mere "amuse - bouches".. what reward will all those get who peel off their tight pants and spanx before it is too late?.

  Yeah, everlasting life...wasn't that the goal of the Pharoahs with their fancy tombs providing all they needed on their journey?

  Ponce d'Leone spent his life questing for the fountain of youth (and lots of gold) and where'd that get him or the gullible fools who followed him?

  Mormons are all being Mormons so they can have their own planets filled with their families or some such fantacy

  and there are and always have been folks that think they can cheat death (Or profit off the gullible ones who follow them) And how selfish! They'll kick their own children to the curb or their aging parents who don't believe just to assure their chance at the 'fountain of youth' or whatever live forever scheme they've imagined. They have no natural affection and seek their own selfish longings....the bible has a few nuggets of wisdom from time to time.

  I agree, the comment in that talk was disgusting but also proof that this really is what they belIeve. One MUST be a believer in their god to get everlasting life.

  What if...Barbara Anderson was never disfellowshipped.

  with all these new lawsuits coming against the watchtower, i wonder what would have happened if the watchtower had revised their policies instead of disfellowshipping whistleblowers.

  i wonder if the gb regrets it.

  what if they had accepted that child abuse was a real issue and abolished the 2 witness rule?

  I think the point was that many could have been helped and futher abuse might have been prevented AND the JW's wouldn't BE in this predicament over pedophelia if they had only LISTENED to what Barbara was trying to tell them. Their two witness policy was a disaster waiting to happen and it's happening now. The money drain that may be coming to the JW organization due to pedophile lawsuits may be their final end.

  But, on the other side, Barbara and her husband were able to wake up and see much more than just the errors of the JW's; they were able to do research into many other things that they wouldn't have been able to do before and come out with far more knowlege. The same is true for so many of us and we have also lost family due to the df'ing policy. Maybe if the JW religion gets swallowed up in littigation more of our family members will wake up....we can hope.

  So, you haven't been to a meeting in over a year? Ask the elders what part of 'I walked away from this farce of a religion a year ago' don't they understand? do they really believe you are not old enough to make an informed decision? Then proceed to INFORM them: go to JWFacts for a list of places to start.

  The elders treat the rank & file witness like they don't have a brain cell in their head. Maybe it's time to bone up on your debating skills and just lamb into them. Nothing will be lost that isn't already (sorry) but maybe you can get some points in.

  btw, I dressed Steampunk again this year for my students. Walked the dog through the neighborhood later in the evening and saw some great decorations. I think I enjoy the Halloween decorations better than Christmas.

  Steven Lett Governing body tells his Grandfather beaten for playing loud Rutherford records....Why??

  at the international convention melbourne brother lett of the group 2 faithful slave told an emotional story of his grandfather on a sidewalk in texas playing a rutherford recording loudly till a irratated texan came out of a house, smashed the grammaphone and punched him in the face...if you ever heard rutherford you would know why.

  for example religion is a snare and a racket invented by satan....no wonder they were banned..tarred and feathered...killed and put in jail playing the rantings of a maniac.

  brother lett was proud of him...i pitty the fool.. .

  Well, as I told my late JW father, when I was a teenager and discovered the old phonograph and records while visiting grandma, I put a Rutherford recording on and couldn't listen to it. He was wierd and scary sounding. I actually tried a second record but it was the same bombastic voice. On another site someone said his speaches sounded a lot like Hitler...when he really got going, he did kind of. It was the 1930's through '40's....bombastic style in English or German may have been the same...oh well. I didn't like it! Apparently the average person of the 1930's to 1940's also found it offensive...it appealed to whom?

  This weeks service meeting! More craziness.....

  so this weeks service meeting is so full of "crazy".

  a whole 15 min part devoted to trying to indoctrinate everyone on how to "explain our beliefs on 1914".

  then another 15 min part called "a tool to help us explain our beliefs about 1914".

  I remember trying to 'do the math' on the 1914 thing and it seems to me that the date also hung on an interpretation of humankind only being in existence since 4026 BCE, the 6,000 year thing but maybe that was just the one to explain 1975. I'm so confused

  New explanation of Gog of Magog: Two Gogs?

  i just finished watching the recording of the talk at the annual meeting that re-explains gog of magog.

  i caught something not previously talked about, that i can recall.. gog of magog is thought to be a coalition of nations that attach god's people during the great tribulation.

  this is from ezekiel 38 & 39.. gog and magog in revelation 20 represents those with the same attitude as gog of magog.. thus, the new teaching (maybe not new, but i'll have to research this) is that gog in ezekiel is not the same as gog in revelation 20. two different gogs, happening about a thousand years apart.. .
