I think its sad
by Alexander ini wouldn't be here wasn't it for a link on google on the moscow ban that led me here.
i am shocked by the hatred many of you display in your posts.
some claim that we break up marriages, yet some of the happiest couples i know are faithfull brothers and sisters.

Dysfunction and Denial: Faith on Auto-Pilot
by jeanniebeanz ini recently picked up a book that i have seen on the shelves for some time but never really paid it much attention until today.
what can i say, it was on sale.
the title is, "women who love too much" by robin norwood, and it is essentially aimed at getting women who bounce from bad relationships to worse to see the root causes which are responsible for their poor choices in men.. one paragraph that dealt with denial of extreme behaviors in the home (alcoholism, abuse, and abandonment) leapt out at me.

I remember hearing about the book from someone studying who was living with a worldly woman. (walking down the street.. worldly - oh sorry) She actually recommended the book to him. I guess what it comes down to is this sticky, codependent dynamic regardless of which side the individual is on.
It seems to me this can exist in different degrees. After all, why do people have a hard time with family and friends who are still in? Sometimes there is an open dialogue, but it comes down to wanting to maintain contact with them doesn't it? Now I'm not talking about just not rocking the boat, but if the little WTS rules is governing how you relate to your loved ones indirectly, you are still under that influence. In one situation it is serving the relationship between the JW and the WTS, in the other it is serving the relationship between you and the JW loved one, in both cases there is a degree of enmeshment.

Do you really want to get over it?
by Markfromcali ini'm asking if people might take a moment to seriously consider this.
now by asking this question i don't mean to imply anything like "just get over it already" - i don't think it's so simple as that.
but it's occurred to me that the mental freedom is actually not as valuable to some people as other things, and we do know the jw experience does effect other things in one's life like relationships and livelihood, or one's ability in these kinds of life arenas.

And obviously those things are important, but my question is basically what is most important to you? Because you can have those things while not actually resolving the JW knot, so to speak. What do you really want?

Would you help a dub?
by greendawn inif a dub needed your help as in a medical emergency or in getting employment/job contract or in getting your support in a dispute with someone on a non religious issue or in some other way such as in a car break down would you help them?

What are you, the new Minimus?
Sure, and the reason is I don't care about their dubness. To deny it would make that significant.

WHO WILL TAKE YOUR FUNERAL
by tijkmo indont mean to be morbid here.
but as a jw all of this was taken care of.
now i think if i were to die tomorrow i wouldnt want a jw funeral (although technically i could still qualify) and i wouldn't even want any of my former associates who abandoned me when i needed them most to be there... so what arrangements have you made.

I for one don't really care, and don't really see the point besides just good planning of your estate and whatnot. I mean you're dead, how are you going to see to it that it actually happens the way you want after that happens?
But in terms of style, I've actually thought of tupperware coffin and things like that, music mocking how solemn people get and so on. I would like my friends to be happy and celebrate life rather than be all down and depressed. But of course, at that point I am dead, if they're gonna be down I can't help them with that.

Time the Clock of the Heart
by prophecor inpsalms 90:10
our lives last seventy years.
or, if we are strong, eighty years.. even the best of them are struggle and sorrow;.

the only thing I need concern myself with is the here and now.
Is forever just a dream to you? Do you still long for the days of promise as to the resurection, the new heavens and the new earth? Was it really all for nothing, our struggle in and out of the truth? How could we have gotten the timing so wrong?
Being concerned with the here and now, there is no time to be concerned with these questions - literally. If you actually do this, you will start to see that self concern is a dream.
