here's the good news: after six years of working at night so we didn't have to leave the children with people we didn't know (or, worse still, witnesses), big tex got a day job!!!!!

his law firm decided that they didn't want to lose him -- they knew he was interviewing for day jobs -- so found him a spot in the daytime.

we signed the kids up for the school's after-school program, which is excellent, and it is so incredibly wonderful to have him home at night!

And Nina, don't worry too much. Everything's going to be fine.

No matter what, your picture sure doesn't look like you're 48. I'd have guessed ten to fifteen years younger. If you're close to the grim reaper, then I'm already there----(that means you're not close)

My Body

there was recently a thread asking whether you'd rather be buried or cremated.

in a way, i think both are selfish.

i am already an organ donor, so i figure, why not donate the rest of my body to medical science?

For me, I'd donate everything, including eyes. What the hell do I need organs for after I'm gone?

Also, I want to be cremated, with no viewing. Looking at a dead body is so bizzarre. If people wish, they can eulogize me, althought there's really not that much about me to like.

Anti-Americanism

how do you define someone as anti-american?

if you strongly disapprove of, say, america's foreign policies, yet basically have an affection for american people, does this still make you an anti-american?

is it possible that people are being accused of being anti-american inaccurately?

you know---all men just have one thing on their mind or all women are just users?

there's so much stereotyping when it comes to males and females...typical man, typical woman.

but for some reason I connect better with women.

Same with me. Strong women are great (although the shopaholic preppies can go sit and spin).

But, in the end, I think that people attribute the women/man wars to a couple of assholes on either side.

Women and men use people for sex. Men and women have used relationships for purposes other than love. Men and women sometimes are incredibly crass to each other for very stupid reasons.

They get guys from NYC and Jersey to be in those pics....generally you have to be 'connected', to get in there, you know, with your head squarely up some Elder/DO/CO's ass.

I think that these extreme photos are perfect for getting kids out of JWs. I remember being a kid, and looking at these exaggerated photos, doctored stories, and thinking, do they think that all kids are this stupid.

But, that's not the point. The abusive parents, who enfore the rule of idiocy, look at those extreme pics and gasp! "My goodness gracious! My child will certainly never look like that! I'll make sure to limit all activities that could be the least bit stimulating, spy on them and invade their privacy, and if needed, abuse the hell out of them to make them listen to me. If that doesn't work, I'll just throw them out of the house and pretend they're dead."

Lovely religion.

my mother told me that after i get married, she's going to give me the "family happiness" book.

i've never read the thing, but i know it's a wts publication that often gets given or mailed out to newlyweds who aren't in the troof.

what's your opinion of this "fine christian publication"?

Until recently, I was working at a pharmaceutical company. I'd say that the men/women ratio was right about 50/50. And these are the people curing cancer, etc.

The WT gives women no credit whatsoever.

Oh and by the way, if you say something anti soldier here during a time of war then I myself consider you anti american

Actually, I was referring to people being critical of a War itself, and still being called soldier haters. As much of my family at one time or another was in the marines, I can sympathise with people who get mad at those who call soldiers baby killers.

But, being critical of the vauge generalities of policy can sometimes get people's blood boiling. I just don't see what gets people so worked up.
