The JWs claim that they are a faithful copy of the early Christian apostolic church however there are numerous differences between the two eg in the way Christ was perceived, the apostles thought of him as a Lord to be worshipped and be invoked, something that the JWs loath doing. And also all the baptised participated in the bread and wine ritual weekly, rather than a handful participating yearly . Does anybody know of any other differences in belief or behaviour or overall structure?

Salvation Discussion
by Shawn ini want to practice a thechnique that was shared with me today about opening the eyes/minds/hearts of jws.
i need someone to argue the way a jw would about the following question and i will reply and so on until the end.

"Have you seen miracles done by the WTS on behalf of Jehovah? Have any sick been cured or wounded healed. Have you fed the poor or cared for the elderly? Have you housed the orphans or protected the innocent? I am sorry but I don't think I can continue this way anymore. There is no Love here" Shawn I think you?ve realised at long last that the WTS is a big con there is certainly no love in them and that gives their game away. These people have nothing to do with eternal life and it?s pointless trying to understand the things about it let alone obtain it through them. Better see them as they really are, a big publishing business and the GB and whoever else is behind them belong to the big business class and not to Christ. Their mind is on how to make profit rather than help widows and orphans, how to receive and not how to give. That?s also why you have a totalitarian style of rule here and all dissenters are immediately expelled.

A world for all of us
by greendawn inwhen people are with the jws one of the tactics they use to deter them from leaving is the fear of the world, with typical cunning they over-emphasize its negative things, down play or ignore its positive things, and make sweeping generalisations about its nature.
in reality the world has everything and you can choose what you want to be or make out of life eg you can be a self denying saint or a sex crazed womaniser and nobody cares.
that is the golden abundance of the world and it belongs to all and i reconnected with it after leaving the jws with that thought.

What were your experiences on this issue?

Smart JWs
by greendawn inmost of us often talk about what we don't like in the jws and why we left but i think there are some smart persons/families/entire congs there who know how to play the system, they don't really give a toss about the wts ideology (or behaviour) but they stay there just to have a good social or family life in exchange for giving 5 or 7 hours to the org per week.
to them it is a social club not a religion.
have you seen or heard anything on this?

Have you conquered the indoctrination?
by Frog insomething i?ve wanted to ask you all for a while.
had you 100% denounced jw doctrine to yourself at the time of your leaving the org?
i know many have said that specific issues prompted them to leave i.e., wt membership in the un, silent lambs/child molestation policy, malawi political party card issues, inconsistent changes in doctrine i.e., 1975/1914 generation not passing?new light begets old light begets new light etc.

I was with the JWs for almost eight years 1979-1987 then I gave in my letter of resignation explaining what I didn't like in there, but I had spent quite a few years fading away. Took some time to crash their influence destroying their dogmas one by one and got rid of most of it in 3 or 4 years, had job, good car, girlfriend and everything. Then in 1995 went on the internet and that cleared away most of the remaining poison as I found so many revealing articles on their true nature. The best way is to sit down and study comprehensively their history and beliefs, in depth over weeks and months and that will help the most. Things will not register at first but they will in time as you continue the in depth study on the details. E.g. when you see that Russell positively was into the occult(employing Enochian magic, spiritistic mediums, masonic insignia and buzz words, pyramidology) and most likely a free mason, something sooner or later clicks you realise this sect has occult satanic roots and it is very likely a masonic creation. No doubt Russell was dishonest, mixing the demons with the Christ. Would a catholic priest or protestant pastor engage in such activities promoting the books of spititistic mediums etc? You eventually get the whole picture. I also suppose working together with other people on this rather than in isolation, helps a lot. In the end none of the dogmas they produced are any good, and the only good things they have are whatever they borrowed from other christian religions.

1975 - Lest We Forget
by GetBusyLiving ini find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?

If we read JW history carefully we'll see that the WTS did trigger off and then whip up that mass hysteria between mid 1960's and mid 1970's but in a more subtle way than Russell and Rutherford had done previously, they never directly said it will come but very clearly implied it. In addition they obviously knew that the dubs were very thrilled over this, but did nothing to diminish their excitement lower their expectations and prevent the silly things they were getting into in preparation for the supposed end. This shows clearly their deviousness and how they did another clever number on the brainless dubs. The Brooklyn con artists struck again.

DF'd/DA'd, Death, Resurrection --- Future new light?
by catchthis inyears ago when i first started to question the organization and i knew at some point in time that i would eventually da myself or be df'd for some reason, i always wondered if my family would, in time, accept me once again after shunning me.
the 1995 generation thread brought this back up in my mind and i was interested to know if anyone else used this same line of thinking.. for the sake of those who still have jw relatives, let's put on their thinking caps for a minute.
jw's understand that just about everyone that has ever lived upon the face of the earth and have died, will be resurrected.

Even if they collapse soon in the meanwhile they 've done really well out of milking hard and good the JW slave workforce and they will continue to do so for as long as they can, plenty of free labour as well as donations on top, it's a capitalist's paradise. The naive dubs are still expecting a payment for their labours from God now it's in 2014 as I understand, and it will keep getting postponed for as long as the WTS exists. At one time some people will run away from this org with lots of money in their bank accounts and the rest will be left staring in disbelief. How naive can we get? Why can't they see these con artists for what they are and kick them.

Crumpet thanks for liking my avatar but I can't recall now where I got it, whenever I find a nice photo/painting I save it. If you wish I can send you this photo, it's clear even when it fills half of the monitor screen.

Crumpet, or why not keep the decent people on earth and send the rest to a much inferior planet. After all the few good men had to fight mightily on this planet against the forces of evil such as the WTS.

Mattie Sus I'm glad you came to realise that the so called FDS are a bunch of of semi ignorant amateurs who claim nevertheless that they are very expert and professional in their field and can speak about it with great authority and validity. Especially regarding events in Revelation (as Armageddon for example) they are so symbolic and deep that it is doubtful whether anyone at all has ever grasped their true dimension and meaning. Will children be exterminated, or will at a certain time all births cease so that there will be no underage persons at Armageddon? And what will happen to the mentally feeble and deranged or to other unfortunate humans who can not know the world as we do, the blind and the deaf for example, will they be healed before the end? The WTS version of the end doesn't take these factors into account so it is clearly faulty, very rashed, and artificial, not to say inhumane.
