Was disfellowshipping really sanctioned by God? Please share your honest views according to your Bible views
by Strugglingrsa inwhat were the writers of the bible telling christians when they wrote : “stop keeping company with anyone called a brother who is sexually immoral or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.” (1 corinthians 5:11) regarding everyone who “does not remain in the teaching of the christ,” we read: “do not receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.
for the one who says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.” (2 john 9-11.

Jesus ate with the sinners and tax collectors. Jehovah was buddies with David. Paul was a dick. Of course, Jehovah killed people for steadying the ark of the covenant. Jesus condemned people for even looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her.
So what am I saying? The bible is a contradictory mess and you can pick and choose just about anything to bend to your will and the interpretation shows more about the interpreter than anything.

I would never have the patience for that but I love his videos. Much respect to him for going through all of that to make them. Oh, and his family too for participating. The videos are funny and make fantastic points.

Merry Christmas Snare, and everyone else too! We're about to head out to a Christmas Eve Eve party with a cookie exchange and competition and a white elephant gift exchange, all things we've never done but that sound fun. Oh, and we met the hosts one time, briefly, at a wedding, and they were nice enough to invite us. Good times!
Also, I now want hedgehog Santa to bring me all of my presents.

Paradise Lost
by galaxy7 indoes anyone remember the book paradise lost to paradise regained?
i was made to study the scary parts evertime i misbehaved which must have been all the time as the book imprinted into my brain.all i wanted in life as a child was to join the girl guides go hang out at the ywca with my friends and take part in sports day at school.so my mother asked the then congregation servant if i was demonized, they decided i would be fertalizer for my mothers pear tree.
anyway i grew up fairly normal, took me ages not to be afraid of lightning.had children who never entered a kingdom hall.most of my family served in some capacity at bethel so they dont talk to me.since then i have been a searcher looking for somthing to fill the void.has anyone found anything??

Why in the world would you bump a 15 year old thread that never even had traction without saying anything of value?

Great video! Essential oil cults and the similarity to religious groups
by stuckinarut2 inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsdriasvgtq.
this is a great video- well worth watching.. it shows how a multi-level marketing group that peddles psydo-science can be compared to a religious group..

Yes, they love them some MLMs. I just listened to a podcast called Household Name about Amway (also was kind of a preview of another podcast all about MLMs) and it was all just about as culty. Basically humans have a need and fill it with hopes and dreams and emotion instead of solid reality. I haven't had a chance to watch the video above yet.

Xmas, love it or leave it??
by DATA-DOG ini have to say that i’m not enjoying the xmas season.
i have no emotional ties and i’m spending money that i have not set aside for xmas during a slow work season for my trade.. i’m not happy about it, because it’s foolish to spend money when you aren’t making any.
then i feel like i’m expected to do all this, and to be happy about spending money and time on persons that i’m not that involved with.

We love it. There are gifts, sure, but that's not the focus. The tree is cool and has new memories on it as we go on in our new life, the people we will hang out with are fun, there are Christmas cookie exchanges and white elephant games and people are generally pretty happy unless their focus is on material things. You don't have to buy into the commercialism and can make it what you want. We don't have old attachments but we decided to have fun decorations and good times and to appreciate our freedom and what we've got.
