What are you most passionate about?

i had an interview today and was asked a question o have gotten in the past: what are you most passionate about?

it was a struggle to come up with an answer on this one.

as a jw, the things i was passionate about were chosen for me.

Yeah, this question is a mind fuck. My wife and I are struggling right now to figure those things out, to figure out who we are in ways. Heck, we were talking earlier about how neither of us has a style when it comes to how we dress. I have no clue how to look cool and all of her clothes are based on being "modest". They told us what to like (cult activities), kept us from influences and experiences that others have growing up the help shape them, ugh, just fuck them all. I soooo wish I never heard the name Jehovah.

Shunning article on Yahoo appears for second day in a row!

the detroit free press article from yesterday that made front page news on yahoo makes it on yahoo again today!

good to see the main line news paying attention to what kind of sh*t goes on inside the watchtower.

and to think that this bad publicity is happening during the "memorial season" (lol memorial season).. just saying!.

@steve2 - I had to access them on my laptop. There was a menu on the left with icons and I used the comments icon there. It doesn't seem to work on mobile in my experience.

Disfellowshipped/disassociated – How did your parents handle it?

to those who were disfellowshipped/disassociated – how did your still-in parents handle it?.

i don’t want to fade, so i am thinking about disassociating soon – i don’t care if i’m playing by the org’s rules, i just want out.. however, i am concerned about how my parents will react.

i don’t want them to become super depressed or whatever due to me leaving the org.. i don’t want them to be hurt by my decision to leave the org, but i feel like there is no way of avoiding this..

They won't give two shits what happens to you after you disassociate so why should you care about them. Yes, they will react badly but that's on them. You live your life your way and they get to do the same. It's not up to you to take on their feelings.

My wife and I both disassociated. Best decision we ever made. Are our parents bothered by it? I'm sure, but how does one really know when they're shunned and will never see them again? I'm dead to them. They are dead to me.

Blood Card Issue

i posted this on r/exjw, but i thought i might post it here as well.

so the elders in our kh are moving to get us to sign new simplified blood cards and keep them on file.

i really need to not rock the boat in my current pimo status because of circumstances.. my cousin knows i have doubts about the blood thing, but i can’t show her that my doubts are getting to me.

Ah, the games faders have to play. If you're going to do something like DOC says above, which might be your only play if you're really willing to potentially sign your life away to the cult, be sure to maybe speak with a lawyer about it. Maybe you could get something drawn up legally because otherwise they'll bring in their copies of your papers and they'll be sure to have people speak for you as to you being a good JW so they'll try to establish a pattern of you as a JW despite anything you do to circumvent it.

Or you could just establish a boundary and say that you won't do it, you won't give them one. Just say you're a private person or that you feel weird or something and be quirky and don't do what they say. I don't think they can disfellowship you because you don't give them a copy of your card. You will have to sack up and take a stand though. Or just let them bully you like they do with their bad cult boundaries and put your life in their hands. I'm pretty sure you've been given advice on this already.

hey its me if any one remembers me,i just wanted to post saying that ive been doing well.right now im just trying to live life and have some fun while im still a kid.it still sucks to have to go to meetings etc.. like the title i wanted to say thanks for the people that helped me when i was posting a lot.i might post some times but not as much as i used to..

Welcome back! Glad to see you again. Live life, have fun, and don't get baptized. The Bible is a bunch of bull but there are still good lessons in it so if you have to be exposed to it you might learn something here or there that actually applies to real life. Just focus on being the best version of you that you can be, and don't forget to be a kid. The cult robs many of that opportunity. Take care!
