South East England - love of the greater number cooling off

hi everyone, in the congregation i grew up in, it was very cold and unloving.

circuit overseers would come and go, they would give counsel and nothing changed.

at one time even the do came at the same time as the co and gave counsel to 'widen out'.

Hallo everyone

lots of stories about the Rye cong. Know of one marriage where the wife ran of with her b-i-l. They later got married and reinstated.

Quite a few problems due to most being related (or possible inbreeding) CO had some heavy visits there. Dont know what its like now though.

As for the Brighton centre well at least it was indoors and you could buy food. We always sat in one of the TV rooms. It seemed a little more distant that way.

Haysbridge - the grass had always been 'treated' and so no walking or sitting on it!! You could of course gaze and admire form the safe distance of the paviours having either eaten in your car or sat on the floor in one of the old buffet areas. Why did we put up with it?

Quite a few elders in the east sussex area are out of the org now. They seem to be mainly the ones who where more hospitable and kind. Maybe that what is happening on a large scale leaving behind the'society men' who are too busy climbing the WTBTS ladder to care about kindness and real love.

JW's and driving abilities...

have you ever noticed that jw's have a particular hard time with driving?

let me clarify.. i work for a police department that has a civic center where there are circuit assemblies held usually once a month..(give or take a few weeks.

anyhoo, i cannot count on my fingers and toes how many accidents i have had to work involving jw's.

I am sure they think that JHVH will protect them how ever badly they drive.

I can remember trying to avoid car groups with certain ones who were dangerous/stupid.

to begin let's start with some ... reminders: .

the truth will not allow for all the different kinds of religious doctrine in the worldthere can not be two sets of truth when one does not agree with the other.

one or the other is true, but not both.

Thankyou Mac for another brilliant posting with all the research.

The WTBTS gets away with this because it is very hard to dig all this information out and collate it.

We tried to research the org before we got involved back in about 1982 but this sort of thing wasnt available and of course neither was the internet, and so the most we could find where doctrinal arguments published by trinitarians etc. The rest of the JW idea of a P/E and "wickedness no more" appealed and seemed to make sense especially with their - as we now know - carefully selected bible verses to back the story.

Off course once you are in the org you are kept too busy to do any other extra reading and any voice of dissension however muted is quickly and effectively silenced with the "satan misleading you/disloyalty" tack.

Fast forward 18 years and we started to find out the real truth about the "troof" as have many thousands.

This sort of posting and research can potentially help many more thousands avoid the heartache and problems experienced due to the WTBTS and their lies and cover-ups.

Another one to keep.

i am now out of the jws after over twenty years of brainwashing .

Forget your JW history and move on...

within the first couple of years of leaving the wt quite a few people told me to forget it, get over it and move on, it wasnt like i kept talking about it, in fact, as much as i needed too, i seldom did.

its just that they observed my interest in talking with exjwsan interest that ive never tired of.

i used to feel like i owed people an apology because a lot of my best friends were exjws!

throughly agree with all you say. We are going through this now, and have also been told we should just forget it and move on. For us it is the 2nd time we have lost our past. We gave our past up to come into the org and then have lost the 18 years we spent in it. We are still trying to get the courage to meet other x's in the flesh and maybe make some real friends again.

i was just remembering a guy from our hall that seemed to be the most intellectual of everyone there.

when he would give an answer, it was in depth, and always "in his own words.".

he had the biggest briefcase there, with all sorts of books, and research.

Even highly intelligent people are blackmailed into staying because of family pressure.

Yes you can see that the WTBTS is totally wrong and in some instances even downright nasty but to leave would mean losing your family, marriage, job, home - any or all of these. Could you leave?

Its not just intelligence that is needed.

why do people become ( jehovahs witnesess ) .. 1) man wants to serve god his inherent desire is to please the creator,some see the wicked works of christendom and form an acurate decision in staying away due to christendom not following gods word,.

yet blindly and stubornly they cling to a sect which lies cheats ,gives missleading bible inacuracies to all its members,all in the name of jehovah god,false to jehovah and jesus in every way possible , started as a company selling magazines,copied king james version of the bible,alterd most of its main contents,was a member of the united nations for ten years or more, never informed its members of its worldly alliance,has millions of pounds or dollars in real estate is into commercial enterprise,part of the rand corporation dealing in scud misile engines, .

harbours nasty child molesters within there ranks of christian men and women.

I think you identify some reasons why people remain Jdubs rather than why they become one in the first place.

Another one to add the your list is the fact that most dont really understand what the WTBTS really teaches and go along with it for family and social reasons. I know this is very common from first hand experience.

Fully agree Nightwarrior.

All the little phrases like "bible trained conscience" really just mean WTBTS control and the taking away of your freedom of thought.

Many end up unable to decide for themselves or sort out any problems, henct the continual updates at the elders schools basically on how to apply what is contained in the "sacred" flock book. Common sense and an individual consciene are foreign concepts to a loyal JW.

It takes great strength to escape from this high control.
