So now I get it everyone
What we heard from the platform was a joke. The question is how to tell the differance between "new light", "old light" and jokes. Or are we just meant to be willing to die for all of it?
Please advise

Does being called an 'apostate' upset you?
by wholewheat indo all of you ex-jehovah's witnesses get upset when you are called an apostate?
you all call each other apostates, so why should you all get upset if i call you apostates?
if you don't like being called 'apostate', what title would you prefer?

Wasnt Jesus an apostate?
Wether or not you believe he was/is the son of god he still stood out against the religion that he was born into and went another way.

My chat with Elder Dad. (I'm angry!!)
by home_and_dry ini feel the need for a rant!
i had a conversation with my jw elder father tonight that has left me seething.
just to set the scene, i left the jws back in 1994. i was baptized, having been dfd and reinstated a couple of years prior to my final exit in 94. i was never dfd again and pretty much left to my own devices.

Sorry for what you are going through with your father at the moment. He was probably in "super dub mode" due to the CO visit and elders meeting.
I know most reasonable elders dont enjoy these.
As to the marriage question. If it was such an important thing to a creator why isnt the ceremony laid out in detail in the scriptures for mankind to follow. It just seems a bit odd that those who follow the bible shout so loud about marriage and yet I thing the only thing mentioned is becoming !one flesh" etc.
Maybe others know differantly.

Hi uncle bruce
good to hear from you again.
I think where a lot of the problems begin is the fact that the society leads everyone to believe that all JW's are trustworthy.
This causes people to drop their guard.
How many times have we heard from the platform about not leaving valuables on our seats etc at the conventions because "not everyone there is a brother or sister", thereby directly implying that if it was only JW's in attendance then your belongings would be safe.
I have even heard this said about keeping your children close to you for the same reason.
There is a false sense of security which is encouraged by the org and sadly many are now paying the price for being too trusting.
Maybe now is the time to apply this within the cong
(Psalm 146:3) Do not put YOUR trust in nobles,.......

Isnt "watching the World" 2 pages in the back of every Awake dedicated to quotes from this very source that they hold up as satanic?
That must mean that someone somewhere in the vaults of Brooklyn is trawling through the media to produce these articles. Surely not such a good idea if it is all so wicked!!
Or are they saying that some of what is produced by satans system is useful and true. We would agree with that.

I Have a Question
by Farkel inmy proclaimer's book is in storage right now, but i did a post some years ago on a picture in that book.
it's the picture of the dubs sitting down listening to joe rutherford rant and rave at one of the "7 trumpet" assemblies in the 1920's.
if you look at the picture, you will see that all females had their heads covered, and many of the head coverings were what looked like doilies or paper napkins!

Are there any ex-missionaries here??
by fulano ini have been a missionary in the dominican republic for almost 10 years and i was wondering if there were any ex-missionaries on this forum.. i am back in my country now for 3 years and totally inactive.. what i noticed in those missionary-years was the lack of spiritual interest among the missionaries.. discussions were about rooms, cars and greater responsibilities, the bad territory.
and the local c.o.s and d.os.. was this only in the dr or are there other experiences??.
ere other experiences?

The societies treatment of the missionaries leaves a lot to be desired.
I knew of 2 who served in one of the African countries. Something they had planned and dreamed about for many years having served as pioneers.
They both contracted malaria whilst there.
Those in the missionary home werent bothered about how ill they were, in fact one of them was quite unpleasant about it.
They had to get to the nearest city to find a doctor and medicine themselves.
They ended up coming home and leaving the missionary service. The brother was very ill indeed and still suffers from the after effects. They received no help from the society. It was left to their families to pick up the pieces. This couple where homeless and without any income. They had only lived in rented accomodation in the past and didnt have any money behind them to draw on. They found out that most of the missionaries had their own private incomes and property back home that they rented out. This couple had really kept their eye simple and it nearly killed them.
The society never did anything to help them either emotionally or materially.
Just where does the money go for the worldwide work?
Some of the things that we learnt from this episode helped us see just what the org is really like. Unfortunately this couple are still in and slaving, but no longer as missionaries.
