Has the Watchtower lost its credibility?
by truthseeker inchild abuse, documentarys on watchtower cover-ups of child molestation, un scandal, disfellowshipping changes, flip-flop doctrines, loss of life due to refusing blood transfusions, disfellowshipping whistleblowers etc.. you name it, the watchtower has done it.. years ago, it was hard to hear anything bad about the society.
other than a few "disgruntled ones" (tm) most people (in and out the org) had little bad to say about the dubs.. now, it's only "bad all the time.
" everytime a news article on jw appears, it's usually bad.. it seems the only good media attention they get these days is coverage of their district conventions and the odd quickbuild.. have the attitudes of people changed towards jw's in your community?.

Any changes in treatment of the disfellowshipped?
by fifi ini was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to whether the acceptable way to treat disfellowshipped family members has changed at all over the past 6-8 months or so?
i'm getting the "brush off" more and more from my family and was wondering if there have been any modifications.
i suppose i should be grateful that they talk to me at all, when i read some of the posts on this board, but i can't help wondering.. thanks for any info.. fifi.

I have some fringe informates who have told me that if you are a brother who has just been told he is now disfellowshiped that before leaving the committee room, he is to immediately bend over and grab his ankle's and spell RUN three times as fast as he possibly can.
As far as the sister's are concerned I have no information, and I refuse to go in that direction anyway.

i wonder if it ever happened that an elder accepted a bribe from a brother or sister caught in some bad sin and not wanting it to be public?

One time I was in a bar quite smashed, and I asked this old drunk what should I know above all else about women; he said: "They Lie a Lot".

Didn't It Irritate You That "The Friends" Had To Know All Of Your Business?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses are a nosy bunch.
they watch to see if anyone might be offending another person's conscience.
they listen for any negative comments that could bring "reproach on jehovah's name".

I heard them call each other friends, they were not friends to me. Oh" I may have had a few friends, but only to have them shun me at the request of the elders; yeah they suck alright. I know there may be a few others that say they are not a cult, well if there is some other nasty word that would desribe them I would use it. They draw people in to their web like a spider and wrap up their life so they can't move; so I guess I should call them: " Spider People".

If you would not do this they then one would fail to see the point of all this, namely to use what ever means to apeal to peoples good sense and begin to draw familys together again. Familys are so darn important once they are gone that is it.

Only by seeing the monster for what it is can you finely go to sleep in your bed, to see that it is only a shadow on the teddy bear. But when your a child at heart its much harder.

"Brainwashing" does not exist
by logansrun inthe term "brainwashing" is sometimes thrown around this forum and i thought i'd briefly comment on it.
the idea that a group or person can actually make you think, act and feel in a certain way is highly dubious.
i'm not saying it's impossible, but i highly doubt that any ex-jws have ever experienced "brainwashing.

Logan, did you reach the point where you were Ready to Obey"? Like Waco TX or Jones town and all the rest, I am sure there a lot of pin heads in the org who follow them down a toilet if it were possible.
