This is your subconscious speaking...
by seattleniceguy inmany of us have had the experience of our subconscious trying to send us messages.
sometimes we refuse to listen and it has to resort to more forceful measures, even making us physically ill. for example, while in the final throes of my witness-ism, i found that i would get horribly painful sore throats within seconds of repressing a thought about something that challenged my faith in a way i could not legitimately dispute.
it was as though my brain was saying, "you need to think about this, now," and then punishing me for refusing to do so.. i was wondering if anyone has experiences like this.

I miss my friends
by seattleniceguy ini saw a movie tonight and came home thinking about a couple old friends who are still witnesses.
i miss them something awful.
i needed to write, so i wrote in my journal for a while, but i really felt the need to write them directly.

Placed an ad today
by seattleniceguy ina few days ago someone posted an article in the ny times, i believe, that talked about fundamentalist christianity and how its rhetoric about the gruesome destruction of non-believers (as depicted, for example, in the left behind series) was eerily similar to the attitudes in extremist islam.
since leaving the witnesses, i have been angered at their hateful rhetoric, and especially at how they masquerade as a benign, loving religion when they really treat non-believers with contempt when it comes to actual interactions.
it's passive-agressive, especially since they claim that it is not them, but god, who will do the destruction.

Headship arrangement as basic brainwashing?
by seattleniceguy ini had this thought occur to me the other day.
we all find it amazing that witnesses can point out the faults in other religions, but believe their own is wonderful, in spite of the raft of problems it has.
confronted with such, the witness will respond with, "oh, no one says our organization is perfect.

What's your basic attitude?
by seattleniceguy ini think that if i had to describe my basic attitude toward life, the universe, and everything in one sentence, it would be this:.
generally, and on reflection, life is better today than it was yesterday.. very anti-thetical to the wt view of things, i know.

Put on your copywriter hats...it's ad time!!
by seattleniceguy inokay, so i've been trying to figure out what i can do to help jws out.
obviously, no one can force someone to think, but sometimes a thought-provoking question can get the gears turning.
so i hit upon this idea of placing ads in a weekly newspaper here in seattle.

Truman show as metaphor for JWism?
by seattleniceguy ini saw the truman show when it first came out in 1998, and was impressed by the movie, and also a bit unnerved.
however, i just read the screenplay, and i have to tell you, it is incredible.
for me, this is one of the most incredible stories i have seen or read.

Communication from the subconscious
by seattleniceguy init's been a while since i've posted here.
hope you all remember me!
in the final months before i left the organization, in the days before i consciously could accept that it was not the truth - indeed, before i could even entertain such a notion on the conscious level - my subconscious knew the truth, and it took to sending me ever stronger messages.
