Your in good hands here. Take a step back, look at your previous existence from the outside in. Crises of Conscience by Raymond Franz is the begining of many a recovery here, It may do both your wife and yourself a good read. It helps to give a more complete understanding about life from the inside of Oz that will truly surprise you. It'll help reduce the sting. I can't say enough about the book. And do please bring your wife in, you'll both begin to see things differently without the blinders, and you'll feel at home soon.

Is country music more approved than any other for a witness?
by wordlywife inmy husband has recently started listening almost exclusively to country.
occasionally we would listen to it before, but every time i get in a car he has driven or we are riding he has it on, when before we always had classic rock on.
i don't mind country music, but this recent change of listening habits in light of his having commenting priveledges back again makes me wonder if listening to anything but country is frowned upon by wt ordinances?

The only music that is not frowned upon is the Kingdom Melodies. Any other music is considered worldly.
A Study article in JW literature," Are we being entertained by what Jehovah hates?" was a current theme among witness teaching, descrbing how we were to be wary of all forms of entertainment from movies to music and covered a wide spectrum of music catagories. Even classical music, which was thought to be safe at one time, when taking into consideration the debauched life of those who performed such was not to be taken for granted as being wholesome or upbuilding.
In hindsight, however, I don't know how any of us could've viewed any type of entertainment as worthy of JW standards as Jehovah hates anyone or anything, not of his people or his earthly organization, leaving very little room for we as witnesses to be entertained by. Country, Classical, Classic Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop & Soft Rock, Soul, Techno, Gospel, Disco, Indie,.......did I leave anybody out?

Vigil for my daughter, please.
by outnfree inas mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.
we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).
surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!

Words you used instead of cussing
by JH inwitnesses must always have a clean and pure language to honor god, and must never cuss.
now imagine an elder accidentally hitting his finger with a hammer...
what words may he exclaim in this moment of pain?

I actually work very hard at refraining from colorful language ( a politically correct term if ever there was one ) to this day, especially around children and the elderly. My wife and my I in private may use descriptive expletives around each other occasionally, but even then we try to keep it at a reasonably respectable level.
I ,however, can get way out of hand when discussing highly charged energy topics, or when someone or something has purely pissed me off! Then, euphemisms are no longer my option, the four letter words can fly out as a means of releasing an incredible amount of energy, they can be as sharp as swords.
Other times they are used to bring a little humor and added spice to things being discussed. Especially when in the prescense of my most trusted friends and companions. They sometimes have their place, though I do better when not reducing the quality of of my communication in any arena.
If at all possible, however, I try to restrain myself from thee indescriminate use of them, as they can be a negative reflection on ones self, especially in public, and it strengthens one's character not to resort to such, unnecessarilly.
Damn, did I say that right?
