i would like to say that any of you that read this board are more than welcomed to be a part of this group.

Whenever I see the coldness that is often shown to family members because they don't go along with the JW way of doing things I think of the scripture that says that "lack of natural affection" would be one of the things happening in later times. I don't think this prophecy applied to true Christians.

Thanks to everyone! I believe my question has been answered. I never had picked up on the 1994 change. It makes sense that the application is after the GT starts and that was the CO's point. Also, I like iiz2cool's idea of writing a letter to the WTS under someone else’s name. I've actually thought of confessing some great imaginary sin in the name of one particular elder that has caused me much mental anguish .

Last night, our visiting CO mentioned in that this is no longer the way we interpret this scripture and that our past understanding was incorrect. He did not go into any further detail. Is this “New Light” and if so how long has this adjustment been in effect? What ramifications would this change have?

i've never been a dub but i've been lurking around here on an off for about a year.
i came here to gain insight into my guy and it's been quite an eye-opening education.
thanks to all of you for all i have learned.
I believe that being a JW is what moved me from being a very bashful person to one who is confident in speaking to others formally and informally. Giving a speech was something that terrified me in school but the TMS training helped me to overcome that fear. Also, I quit smoking after becoming a JW and I don’t think I would have been motivated to do that otherwise. It is really hard to say how much benefit one gains from a religion as following a different road might have produced similar or greater benefits. Who knows?

i ran into an old ex-friend that had just been released from prison.
he was sentenced for selling pot to the highschool girls he coached for soccer and for sleeping with underage girls.
I’m sorry if I offended anyone with my comment about Elsewhere’s sarcasm, especially you Elsewhere. The sarcasm was absolutely in order. I was only making the point that from a scriptural perspective, that what a person has done in their past is not to be held against them. I don’t think though that this would mean that the person shouldn’t be watched closely. If the individual in question is a “true” child molester then he will most likely repeat these kinds of crimes again. If he does, I hope he is caught and imprisoned

i well recall the husband of my sister-law telling us the most earth shattering news.
this was around 1973 and 1975 fever was starting to take over many individuals.
with breathless excitement he told us the follow story.

Elsewhere’s answer is correct despite it’s sarcasm. Now to be fair, your friend committed criminal and criminally immoral acts but is he STILL doing these things? Has he repented and does he desire to live a life as a Christian? These questions are in my opinion the crux of the matter (leave the idea of whether JWs are true Christians or not out of the equation). It is what you are now, a Christian? This is what matters to God not what a person used to be.

my wife knows i have many douts about the wts because of things that have happened that have made me question certain teachings.i have been inactive for 6 yrs now and i have no desire to ever become active again.i love my wife very much(she is presently inactive also) and i wish she would see my point of view or at least look into the society's past but she's a die-hard jw,hanging on no matter what they do or say.. anyways,we had a chat last week and she told me to write down all the questions i have and then she'll do everything to get me the answers.i'm assuming she'll give the question list to an elder she believes she can trust and he'll come up with logical answers to all my questions, then i'll humbly return to all my meetings and progress spiritually.. i'm asking everyone's help to draw up a good list even though i am not very confident of getting any real,logical or intelligent answers to all of them.i understand if the elders are stumbled by these questions,they might take the easy route-label me an apostate and try to df me.if that's the case then i'll stand my ground and hopefully my wife will see that nobody really wants to answer my questions.. a co once tried to answer my questions about 607 vs 587.i told my wife when he runs out of real proof and answers he'll tell me to wait on jehovah.that's exactly what happened!!!!!.

Chances are that the minute she gives your list of questions to a “trusted elder” your disfellowshipping is just a matter of time and her disfellowshipping too if she entertains any of the same questions.

in all animals, man included, the sex drive is hormonal.
Once upon a time I was a Mormon and before being an earthly Mormon I was an angel in heaven. I was called to the earth in the best of Mormon tradition to live a life of abstinence from such things as coffee, tea, alcohol and tobacco but not SEX. I retain some memories of my angelic pre-earthly existence and can recall being grateful that as a human I would find release for my angelic sex drive through having multiple wives.
