'PROPER' dress code for kids at the KH
by jambon1 inspeaking to a sister while i was in, she mentioned to me some trouble she was having trying to get her young daughter into a skirt for the meetings.
to cut a long story short, the girl just did`nt like skirts.
simple as that.

I'm curious as to how old the young daughter is. If she is four years old or older then having her wear a dress to the KH as present dress code dictates, would seem to be in order. At some point in a child's life discipline is required. I agree that the WTS is a behind times in relaxing their dress code. IMO business casual (which most companies went to years ago) is quite appropriate. Perhaps those conducting meeting parts should wear more formal clothing but not those of us who are just attendees.

Never throw away those Watchtowers and Awakes!
by free2beme init is a sin to throw away your watchtowers and awakes.
you must let them build up and up and up, until you need to store them in boxes that will be places in corners of the attic or basement.
when you find them years later, still do not throw them away or you will die at armageddon!

I throw mine away once their date is older than the current month. As soon as I the current study magazine is completed, in the trash it goes,

I believe the core doctrines. No trinity, burning hell, immortal soul, etc... What I don't believe in is the organization, this being based on personal experience and knowledge gained about its' history and actions.

As a JW how do/did you feel about 6 billion people being destroyed?
by jwfacts inhow else can a person justify that jehovah will destroy 6 billion people, innocent children included?
i could never accept that i deserved salvation whereas almost no one else did.
it put me on permanent spiritual edge because i thought the slave is right so the doctrine of destruction must be, but my heart always knew it was wrong.

Perhaps the big A is God NOT doing something that he is currently doing?
No, the big “A” is definitely God doing something. The following is from the 1964 Watchtower, page 49 and it points out what Armageddon is. Cosmic, please note.
THE ALTERNATIVE COURSE
35 When we see who make up the two sides in this showdown fight at Armageddon (or, Har–Magedon), we can also see that the fight is over the issue of the sovereignty of the earth. The question that is up for settlement at Armageddon is, Who has the right to rule all the earth? Who will, in fact, rule the earth now and forever—the political rulers of this corrupt system of things or the Son of God, Jesus Christ? When World War I was fought in 1914-1918, mainly between the nations of Christendom, it was over the question of who will dominate the earth politically and commercially. World War II of 1939-1945, which was also chiefly between the nations of Christendom, was over the same question. By all the tokens observable today any third world war would be over the same issue. In agreement with that fact, the human rulers of our earth now yield to the unseen demonic influence of God’s enemies and refuse to hand over the sovereignty of the earth to God’s appointed King, Jesus Christ. Unavoidably God is obliged to use violence at Armageddon. The nations thus bring destruction upon themselves at the hands of God the Almighty at Armageddon, in the worst time of trouble ever in human history.—Matt. 24:21, 22. -

What is spirituality?
by jwfacts inwhat does it mean to be spiritual?
jws do not seem to have very much of it.
they talk reguarly about god, but they can not have a real relationship with jesus, can only approach jehovah through jesus, with the wts somewhere in between and do not believe in the holy spirit as a person.

Spiritual people never question the WTS or the elders. Spiritual people go to all of the meetings and prepare beforehand. They follow every silly little rule that is made. Being kind, forgiving and loving are not requirements for WT spirituality.

Can someone explain Mosaic Law please??
by Super_Becka inok, so maybe i should've asked this a long time ago, but i'm a little slow sometimes.
my apologies for being uneducated in this particular area.
hey, i'm still learning, that's why i'm here.. i've seen a lot of references to mosaic law here on the board, but i'm a little unclear as to what it is, what it says, what it means, and who it applies to.

It is the entire list of "Do's and Don'ts" God gave to the Israelites as recorded in the Old Testament.

Clipless pedals, anyone?
by onintwo inor..alternative subject title, "god, that pavement's hard!"..
just bought a new road bike.
never rode clipless pedals before.
-
FairMind
I've never used clip-less pedals but my mountain bike has toe baskets. In the beginning I took a few spills. It's an embarrassing feeling to come to a complete stop, go to put your foot down and find it is still in the basket (ker...plunk).

I remember a thread that had a link to a Society document that dealt with the handling of District Conventions. Maybe this is what you are thinking of.

Do they themselves believe?
by Kristofer insometimes i wonder, with the number of letters that the wt receives refuting doctrine & practices, does the gb really buy what they put out?
or are they just pushing literature and living off the collections from congregations.
i would think that if i received overwhelming evidence of the faultiness of my religion, i'd be forced by my own conscience to change or speak up or make a difference.
-
FairMind
In a previous tread on this same question the wise sage "garybuss" said something to the effect that they don't buy all of their own doctrine or why would they change so much of it?
