The WTBTS - Producing more pedophiles per capita than any other religion in the world.
The higher the numbers the better, right?

there have been a few threads about the george benson singing kingdom melodies cd that is doing the rounds in dubdom.
seems the wt doesnt like it.
OK folks, I've got two separate zip files containing two different CD's. One of them is the infamous Benson CD and the other is a mix of songs by supposed Austrian and Patterson brothers and sisters. Both sets are ripped at 192kbps. The Benson CD comes in around 63.4MB and the other weighs in at 104MB.
Anyone care to host?
we all know that the memorial is the single most important day in the jw year.
but why does it have to be observed on one specific day, nisan 14, and at one specific time, at sundown?
did jesus ever make a statement saying that these two requirements had to be kept no matter what?
We all know that the memorial is the single most important day in the jw year. But why does it HAVE to be observed on one specific day, nisan 14, and at one specific time, at sundown? Did Jesus ever make a statement saying that these two requirements had to be kept no matter what? Or did he simply say to "keep doing this in rememberance of me?" To me, this statement leaves open any timeframe as to when you could observe the memorial of his death. It could be once a week, once a month, every other year, every ten years, etc., etc. Just as long as it was remembered in one regular form or another.
I've been debating whether or not to attend the memorial this year with my wife and what excuse to give her if she asks why. The simplest explanation I was going to give her was that I went last year. And if she retorts back with, "Well, you have to go this year too," I will ask her to show me from the bible where it says that I have to observe this most celebrated occasion each and every year and why not just every few years or so. I imagine a teardrop or two may form from that question.
Has anyone else ever thought about these timeframes that the WTS puts into place? Do you feel that it is extremely important to follow the time and date outline that the WTS provides? Or is it just their own flawed interpretation? Even Christendom follows an Easter Sunday yearly routine. But what do rabbits and eggs have to do with Jesus in the first place?
for those of you who met with a judicial committee and were subsequently da'd or df'd, was it worth the time and effort?
did the elders let you speak your piece, or were they only interested in hearing that key word or phrase that would allow them to act?
was there genuine interest shown, proboing questions asked, did they really want to know how you felt?

My wife got two of these CD's a couple of months ago from a bro in the hall. I will rip em' and zip em' tonight and make sure everyone gets their life's water free...
I noticed on one of the discs that it was labeled as "Music by our Austrian and Patterson brothers and sisters." I don't remember how the other disc was labeled.
Check this thread later tonight.
i have noticed now and in the past that most, if not all sisters, go clothes shopping right before the memorial.
they make it out to be this huge deal.
almost to the point where if they do not get that new dress from nordstroms, they won't be able to be seen at the memorial.

Almost to the point where if they do not get that new dress from Nordstroms, they won't be able to be seen at the memorial. I've never encountered this sort of mentality with the brothers. But the sisters stress themselves out trying to figure out what they are going to buy.
Us guys just throw on a suit and go like it's any other night. We might wear that special YHWH tie tack that we keep in the drawer for special occasions, but that's about it. Maybe one of those specially folded hankys that match your tie in the breast pocket too.
So please explain ladies. WHY? Why do most sisters consider it a mortal sin to wear that new dress to ANY meeting right before the memorial? Why is it that the new dress can only be worn the FIRST TIME to the memorial and then be relegated into the rotating wardrobe later? What's the big deal? It's not a wedding dress. And the occasion is certainly not very lengthy.

Walter, we must think alike. I thought the exact same thing when I was mulling over whether or not I was going to go. I was going to give up my mini-digital recorder(which sounds like crap anyways) but do the actual recording with my pda(sounds awesome and picks up voices several feet away clearly). It can record straight to MP3 format and right onto my 1GB sd card. The recording software says that is good for about twenty-something hours of record time. The battery would die before that though.
On a side note, one of the last DC's I attended, I used my pda to record a few of the talks. It turned out waaay better than anything on tape would have sounded. And it is very easy to move the file over to your pc and upload it to the web. So for anyone that has a pda and plans on attending any future assemblies, please think of recording the talks in that digital format to share with all of us.

Meeting with the elders only reinforces in their minds that they still control your future. Why let a small group of men wield this sort of control over you. That is why I refused to meet with them. Their decision was already made whether I attended it or not. Why try to fight it? In my case, I looked upon it as someone who was on death row. Once you are strapped in the chair, there is no way to talk yourself out of it.
Sure, I was thinking about going, but only to record the meeting. If they were to ask me if I was carrying any type of recording device, I would have told them the truth and said, "Yes." I would also have told them that the meeting would not continue without a second person present as a witness to my statements if I could not record the meeting for my personal use. Well as we all know, both scenarios are not allowable, so the meeting would have went on without my presence. If the elders ever want to meet with me again for any reason whatsoever, it will be in my own home where I set the rules, not them. All conversations will be recorded, period. That is why the WTS is so paranoid about people recording these little meetings....the elders may say the wrong things or misrepresent the WTS in some way that can come back later and bite them in the @ss. Otherwise, the three elders can get their stories straight and gang up if a df'd witness says something that could land them in court. Any judge would have to take the word of three men compared to just one person with no one to back them up.

>1. Listen to Jehovah. Many think they know the answers, but they don't even know the questions.
>2. Study regularly, study deeply. We can be desensitized by what we see and hear, thinking it isn't bad, i.e., Christmas songs. We hear them; next thing we know the tune is running around in our head. In a short time, we are humming them, just as Satan wants.
>3. Do we spend pioneer time in front of the TV or computer, and token time in service? Psalms 119:37, "Make my eyes pass on from seeing what is worthless."
>4. Jesus is countless billions of years old...and one day we will be as old as Jesus is now, and he'll only be twice our age.
>5. The Bible is inspired of the Sovereign of the Universe. It's a masterpiece, give it careful attention!!!!
>6. The reasons some give for not being at the meetings is the very reason why they need to be there!!! Too tired, too busy, not feeling well. All signs where spiritual resusitation would invigorate us.
>7. Too busy because of the high cost of living, or living high? You can't put enough money in the bank to get through Armageddon.
>8. A couple of young brothers are going to a movie. When asked if it has bad language, they reply, "Yes, but we hear it all the time in school." Do we want to pay to hear more? It should hurt our ears.
>9. Every meeting is a holy, sacred occasion. Never be absent by choice.
>10. Some are slowly losing the sense of urgency. We are in the heart and heat of a universal emergency. All in heaven have their attention focused on earth and what we are doing.
>11. If we had the cure for cancer we would tell everyone. We DO have the cure for cancer, AIDS, and even death that people desperately need to hear.
>12. Our ministry is an extension of God's love. When you talk with someone they are face to face with a representative of Jehovah God. (I know we've heard this before, but to stop and meditate on this -- it takes on new, deeper meaning.)
i don't have the magazine but i read it at my mother's yesterday.
the gist of the article is that some christian's consciences might allow them to give a "gift" or payment to an official to speed up some paperwork or get them to look at something that they might otherwise ignore because they weren't "tipped"!
.......i wonder if this has anything to do with the dumbo thing going on in brooklyn (crooklyn).....
another post I replied to about the fire truck....
