How many of your family and extended family are out now?
i guess it's about time i write my story.
i've put this off for a long time... primarily becuase, while i thought my story was bad, i've read so many worse and heart-rending stories here.
i think, though, there is some therapeutic value in 'letting it all out' with others who know what 'it' was like.

on tuesday, a 29-year-old on his way to pick up his parents at the local airport became involved in an automobile accident.
when police arrived he became uncooperative and so they stunned him with a taser gun.
now he's dead.. there have been other recent reported deaths associated with the use of a taser.
whenever I do a protest that's one of my chief worries.
Isn't the right to protest one of our 'sacred' freedoms? So they use our fear of being tazed to keep us from our legitimate expresion.
I think BTS comment about America being in an akward phase is interesting? That's a path that I hope we don't have to travel, but at what point do groups of people decide to leave, sucession (I don't know how to spell that) I believe is a constitutional given. WE ended our relatioship with England. The south did before the civil war, and if they'd just not had to take the first shot they might have lasted longer. I think that if this path is taken, the U.S. as a collective may end up splitting into multiple factions of states.

"We believe that they should be used as an alternative to lethal force," said Dori Dinsmore, the group's Midwest director, "not as a tool to ensure routine compliance."
I think they should only use tazers if they would use their side arm, not to "ensure routine compliance".
my wife and i were having an interesting discussion about some of the debates that take place on the board here .
now, granted most people , i feel upwards of 90 % on the board maybe higher try to be respectful in their debates or discussions on topics.
i think we all had enough bashing in the witness organization.
The times that I've gotten snippy or nasty, I usually regret later. I don't like to be a nasty person, doesn't matter if I'm right or not, its just lacks class. Being able to walk away and not respond, to not let others push our emotional buttons I think is a good thing.
I also think that for a while, newbies should just be given the benefit of the doubt. Let them defend the JW beliefs, let them be newbies. Kicking somone whos already down has no honor. Are JW beliefs so tough that we need to get nasty to logically defeat them? I think a mild gentle honest answer speaks more than a 'zinger', and it doesn't activate their defenses.
But I also do enjoy witty, cheeky sarcsm. I think the balance needs to be found between polite public behavoir, but not sappy fake nice either. We all need to grow thicker skins, and become less reactive. I also don't like PC, as I think it is the worst of fake, and ushers in censorship in the guise of tolerance.
So my point blank answer: No, it doesn not have to be nasty, and may actually be more effective when not.
Same goes for face to face meetings, louder dosent' mean right. I hate loud people, ok their speech not them.

What a profoundly sad story, I don't know what can be said to express how it makes feel.
You survived. So many don't.
well, using his terminology ex-jw's would be called supressive persons- sp's .
hurry before it gets blocked by the lawyers.. http://gawker.com/5002269/the-cruise-indoctrination-video-scientology-tried-to-suppress.
LOL Wow! So that's where 'crazy pils' come from?
I've been boycotting his movies for a couple years now. The last one I saw was the one where he's the hit man and Jamie Foxx is the cabbie. I liked it, have it on DVD. But that's it.
I think the church bears keeping an eye on. Very scurry.
here is an interesting challenge for the folks.
this thread revolves around one subject, and that is thomas paine's brilliant critique of the bible written in about 1795. he did most of this from memory, while in prison in france.. http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/thomas_paine/age_of_reason/.
the challenge is this: critique his essays.
You or somebody else posted this link a few years ago, just after I first came here. I printed a copy and read it. It was amazing. It had a great deal of depth and I could only read a few pages at a time to let me digest it. My memory is not as solid as it used to be, so I just try to hold on to the impression that it left me with.
I think Thomas Paine was the author or at least the scribe who wrote the U.S. Constitution or other documents during the formation of our government.
i just this suspiscious looking email delivered to me:.
you're billing information !.
you to update the billing information.
Thanks for the heads up.
since i was raised as a jw i have never missed the memorial.. now since i have been df'd i"m not sure whether i will go or not.
my wife is still a jw.
should i go for her sake or not?.
I can't realistically ever see myself going, but may consider it out of curiousity. I so don't believe in any of that stuff anymore that it would be like going to a bad school play about the tooth fairy.
i doubt it very much, at least not in the foreseeable future.
but what are your thoughts?
could you ever see it happening and under what circumstances & when?
From looking at the WTS history, I'd say that they've had a few, but the wrong team always wins.
