What exactly can I get disfellowshipped for?
by Younglove1999 inmy husband and i have been inactive for almost 8 months.
we haven't gone to a meeting and slowly our jw friends have stopped associating with us because we're "weak".
at some point, we'll be celebrating holidays.

I'm so sorry.. I know it sounded so hopeful before..
this is pretty much the roller coaster my sister went through with my mom.. she was dfd young and when she turned 18, my mom told her she could have no more contact.. then years later when mom got DFd (for 5 yrs) she was back in her life.. then she went back to the dubs and cut my sister off again.. so now my sister pretty much has nothing to do with her because she either wants her in her life or not at all..
Its hard.. now mom thinks since her health is bad, its ok to have "SOME" contact with us... but for how long? till the elders say it isn't?? its hard to know what to do.. but we love our moms ya know..
my heart goes out to you

Ex-Father-in-law dies...
by Jim_TX inwhen i was married to his daughter, he was always thoughtful and kind.
i'm not one to ever want to borrow money, but there were a couple of times that i just had to.
he willingly loaned me money - which i repaid, with interest.

so sorry to hear about your loss Jim. What an aweful way to die. I think that is highest on my list of the least favorite ways to go.. but I'm allergic to bees and so they scare me..
I think it was nice you went there to pay your respects.

What happens when we die?
by Tatiana inis death an end, a beginning, or just another stage on the path?
i watched a movie last night called the eye 2. it was about the buddhist belief in reincarnation.
in the movie, souls wait for women to give birth in order to reincarnate into the baby.

I hate to say it, but I am having a hard time with death now myself.. I don't know or trust what people say happens.. I don't trust any faith and thus I do not have real closure with death any more

Advice Needed
by faundy ini stopped going to meetings over a year ago as i'm a lesbian and have finally accepted it.
i was a witness for 22 years, since i was born.
now i missed my friends at the hall at first, but now i have some amazing new friends that love me no matter what.

you have good advice here..
basically you need to figure out what you want?
I stopped going to meetings, moved and have a new phone number.. if I wanted to DA I'd have to contact them. i chose not to because it would be of more benefit to them.. help them keep the congregation 'clean'.. do I care if their books are nice and neat? no.. I refuse to live by their rules.. so as far as i am concerned, I have dismissed them and live my life

I must say Goodbye for now
by KW13 inthis may not be a forever goodbye, but its certainly a goodbye to this stage of my life because i need to make real progress instead of just talking about it.
i may post the odd post on a rare occasion, but its not part of my plan really.. i posted a topic called the truth, which was originally going to be my farewell to this forum.
i think with my current situation, having a son and having a family that requires my attention it would be wise for me to move on in some shape or form, because i dont want the negativity of the watchtower society to rub off on my son and give him any of the grief and worries i had when i was growing up.

this site has its time and place.. we all need to do what is best for us. The internet, while a diversion at time.. AND while it helps to be able to talk to others who understand what we are going through.. it can't be our only outlet for moving on..
so what you are doing can be a very healthy thing..
However.. it still doesn't mean that from time to time there is a place for this too... I come and go from here.. I've been back more active recently but was mostly absent for the past couple years.. we have stages of growth and healing..
You will do what is right for your family.. and you! good luck and we'll leave the light on for ya

What's reasonable to expect on a first date?
by serendipity ini've been on online dating sites for a while, have exchanged emails with over 100 guys (politely saying "thanks, but no thanks" to the vast majority) and went on dates with a few.
i'm generally disappointed in the emails these guys sent and have been disappointed in the dates.
i'm not sure if the problem is with my expectations or if there is just a lack of communications skills and courtesy among people.

well sounds to me like there wasn't a connection there for you... I don't think your expectations are too high.. or you are too picky..
it is true, he may have been nervous.. and thus might be why he talked about himself so much

Just talked to my sis in law about this on the weekend. It will be the first time the kids will celebrate (they are 13 and 14). We are going to do something at my place, haven't decided what yet though! It's going to be a blast!
