  References in the Reasoning Book

  so i was scanning through my reasoning book recently on a lark, & started looking at the actual reference texts.

  one scientific text they reference was written in the 1800s!

  then i noted that some books acknowledged didn't list the publisher- they said 'boston' or 'new york'.

  Not this morning!!!

  i worked until 2am last night.

  mrs. kwin left for the morning at around 8:20 so i was home alone.

  there's a knock on the door ... what do i do?

  The CO didn't schedule a Saturday morning service arangement! It is at 1 pm!

  The last time the CO visit came to town here the service arrangement was changed by him from 9:15 to 10:00.
  

  He did it because he said many persons liked to sleep later in the morning and they should try not to disturb them.

  I commented to my wife that I guessed all the service arrangements would be at 10:00 AM from now on since this had come from the top.

  My wife replied that no..the very next week they would resume their "normal schedule" 9:15 SHARP

  I wonder who really wanted to sleep in later in the mornings....

  Guideposts and Serena Williams

  imagine my surprise when my wife shows me the cover of the october 2004 guideposts with serena williams photo on it and the caption, "serena williams serving the spirit.

  " for those that have not heard of the guideposts, from its own pages, "guideposts is a monthly inspirational, interfaith, nonprofit magazine written by people from all walks of life.

  its articles help readers achieve their maximum personal and spiritual potential.

  If she was baptized, would she not have to DA herself or be DF by her elders.

  Guess what...there are two sets of standards..If you are rich and famous you can get away with lots.They do not want to push and then they have negative press with what they did. Much easier to sit on your ass and do nothing.

  My niece, age 13, got baptized this weekend

  i know they're desperate for new members for that annual service report; but she is wayyyyy too young to know what she's doing to her life.

  :( there should seriously be a minimum age for this.

  Us against Them

  has it occurred to you that maybe even after leaving the wts, this basic attitude remains?

  in fact, might it not just be transferred to the context of exjws vs jws?.

  no doubt not everyone sees this as an issue, and this is not at all to dismiss the things they have done, but on a personal level, in terms of your own consciousness and peace of mind, has it been looked at from this perspective?.

  There really is no "us". We are not organized, we don't all have the same rigid belief system, just a common background and things that have happened to us. We offer support, but there is no enforced comraderie. When we deal with our families and friends still in, it is just us, all alone.

  OH SHIT...you gave it away...for years the WT has talked about those"nasty apostates" and how they wanted to draw away any who would stray.They always SAID we were just waiting outside to snatch up some poor sheep who had strayed...and we were organized...DAMM..

  IT's going to take years to get our covert operation up and running again.

  i've heard of brothers and sisters saying that they have "prayed for the elders because they love them for their hard work and sacrifice".

  i've also heard of how some in the congregation were petrified of the elders and of course, there were those that said they were either only men or that they were direct representatives of jehovah god himself.

  I just try to avoid them.I regard them much the same as I regard a rattlesnake.I keep my distance but when I get too close and hear the rattles start to go off I back off.They have a hard time hurting you if you keep a low profile and keep out of their way.I need to do this right now because of family that is in and this is why the WT still has so much control over people.If we could all tell them to F#@k off and take our familys out with us the WT would soon be shutting their doors. At least in the part of the world that has HIGH SPEED INTERNET....

  Where We Are in the Stream of Time

  i had another visit from witnesses at my door on saturday, only the second time in the four years we?ve lived here.

  a very nice young girl, it was, offering me the ?keep on the watch?

  magazine.. i let her make her pitch, which was mostly all about how terrible the world was today, and then just replied with enough interest for her to keep going, without giving anything away.

  Disfellowshipping and Shunning- is it scriptual?

  tonight my sister told me our dad had mentioned that when you do not associate yourself with a disfellowshipped person, relative or not, you are honoring god and following the bible's guidlines.

  i asked my sister if she knew where in the bible it states that.

  she said she did not know, but knows that its in there, and knows that it relates something to that affect.

  Read this thread started by Englishman...For a short time (according to scriptures) family did not need to be shunned.Then a few years later(according to scriptures)they had to be shunned.So the answer is yes and no....or as the song says"the answer is blowing in the wind"

  The minimum age for baptism should be 18. Maybe we should start writing to our local MPs and MPPs and pressure them to introduce legislation.

  I always said if you are not old enough to say NO and quit the religion you are not old enough to say YES.

  I put this to one elder in the congregation and guess what....he agreed with me (in private of course)

  Brothers...we can see the END? is not far off.Governments are turning against us even as we speak.They do not want our children to survive the upcoming Great Tribulation? so legislation (the devil's tool) has been enacted to prevent our children from surviving the GT?and being baptised.

  Theocratic warfare must now come to the forefront.If necessary children will be baptised in private at as early an age as possible to "protect " them from this attack of SATAN...If a bathtub is not available the toilet may be used for small children...just be sure to hold on tight and not flush more than twice.
