  Still Demonstrating/Prostesting at the KH and Support is Growing

  we laid low for a week from picketing the kingdom hall.

  i wanted to see how things would go with the emergency hearing before i continued.

  because of the pending restraining order sara applied for, i cannot go within 100 yards of her or her husband, mark.

  I admire your motivation and tenacity. You can be sure that it will give many folks at the KHs something to think about. It would be satisfying for all of us to know that the situation finally worked out amicably for you and your children.

  Just make sure that you know what the legal boundaries and ramifications are for any decisions you make. I?m certainly not knowledgeable about the functioning and strategy of law, but if you have any such doubt or concern regarding a particular course of action, I would run it by a legal professional whom you trust beforehand. It seems that the only way a person can be successful in these types of situations involving the justice system is to make sure to always play by its rules.

  I?m sure that you have no doubt already taken the legal possibilities and ramifications into account so as to work with the best strategy possible, as you seem to be a fairly intelligent man. Just make sure that you get whatever information and advice you need to give you that effective edge.

  If I weren?t in the situation I?m in now (still stuck with a JW family before I can manage to make my ?run for it?), I would love to come over there and lend a hand with the ?sign department.? In any event, you do what you need to do. Don?t worry about any undiscerning posts here (very few)?chances are, they?ve never been in your predicament. Good luck, eh.

  boy did i mess up............ i asked someone out for saturday night..... and she said "yes".............. what do i do now?

  jesus, i'd rather give a bobcat a sandpaper enema than go out.... and nearly 3 days to worry about this............what was i thinking?.

  Pathological fears?

  what do you fear the most?.

  we were relocating a person who works with us to another place , turns out she had a pathological fear of dwarfs and since one worked there she came running back to us.... not sure i have any real pathological fears, however i remember having to get out of pitsburgh due to the high buildings, then i couldnt stay in new york when i saw the hight of the twin towers and other buildings, dont know if i was pathologically scared or just totally overwhelmed.. anyway, whats your fear?.

  I have always had a terrible fear of going under general anesthesia. Just the very idea of involuntarily surrendering consciousness like that gives me anxiety.

  When I had all four of my wisdom teeth out, I just had local freezing with sedation. Also, when I had an operation for a broken bone, I just had a ?spinal tap? with sedation. Both times, it worked so well that I couldn?t imagine doing it any other way. I don?t care about hearing noises, or even a bit of pain?just don?t make me go unconscious! It?s just too darn much like dying!

  Also, I?ve heard about some people sort of waking up during surgery and feeling paralyzed because of the muscle relaxants, and not being able to scream because of the breathing tube. To me, that would be the most horrifying thing. Plus, what if I had to have surgery and died, and it turned out that the Catholics were right, and I ended up in purgatory or hell?

  BOE letter defining apostacy

  i'm looking for the boe letter that defines apostacy as 'standing away' and means individuals can be dfed even if they're not spreading their opinion.

  i'm sure i saw it recently on here in pdf format, but i can't find it.

  In other words, twist his/her arm until he/she says ?Uncle!? I suppose a nice red Indian burn on the arm is one visible sign of a damn good shepherding visit.

  Do You Still Think & Act Like A Witness??

  one of the criticisms i see on this board, especially if one points out a similarity between jws and jwd or other similar discussion boards, is that a person is still seeing things in the eye of a jehovah's witness.

  what's your take on that?

  A lot of people would like to be able to not think and act like a Witness, but one of the things that holds them back from completely discarding their JW mindset is fear.

  For those (like myself) who are presently still living with a JW family for the time being until they can get their finances arranged so they can make their escape, there?s the obvious fear of being ?found out? to be an apostate before their time has come to make a safe fade.

  Even for those who have made it out of the JW religion (either by DA?ing themselves, being DF?d, or just a successful fade), depending on their own intrinsic beliefs and self-esteem, there?s still the fear that has been implanted in them for however long they have been in ?the troof.? That is, the fear of exposure and punishment for breaking the WT rules, the fear of rejection for not talking and acting with Christian ?maturity,? and, of course, the more sinister fear that?s been drummed into us: that we are not good enough if we don?t remain ?faithful? (to the WT).

  Having said that, I believe that it is possible to rise above the JW mindset after realizing over time that there is no longer anyone looking over our shoulder with a ruler waiting to give us a wrap on the knuckles if we say ?gesundheit? when someone sneezes or ?happy birthday,? etc. Also, after realizing that if you could somehow have lived for over a century in ?the troof? you would have witnessed a plethora of failed prophecies and botched doctrines, it becomes more obvious that there is no sense living in the fear of damnation and execution à la Watchtower either.

  However, the doctrines which have been pounded into us from the JW religion has had a significant impact on our psyche?an impact too significant to ignore completely. Much of the cult?s dogma, such as damnation for all except ?worthy? JWs, keep doing ever more, nobody can really ?measure up,? etc., is actually tantamount to an abuse?and like any other major abuse, it leaves a hole in one?s being not easily forgotten.

  I myself still act and even think like a Witness when I have to, but after recently peeking at the mysterious ?person behind the curtain,? I no longer feel like one.

  Saturday morning house to house not good enought anymore!

  just came from the assembly.

  they critisized us for going house to house implying that it was cheating the system and just a way to get fs hours with out talking to people.

  now they want jws to do mostly bus and business witnesses in the afternoon during weekdays.

  No. We?re just supposed to stick to the ?good news? that over 6 billion people are going to be destroyed, minus the 6 million or so members of the Watch Tower publishing corporation in New York.

  Why no going out to lunch at convention??

  i asked the wife today, at the district, what the reasoning was for asking the rank and file to stay in for lunch, and not purchase the lunch elsewhere.

  she stated that the reason was that some venues want the witnesses to purchase lunch from their concessions.

  anyone else heard this??

  . . . it is another means of control. The Society is very much into control, and where (and what) people eat is another in a long list of things they control.

  They want to control what people do during the sessions, as well as on lunch, after the sessions, and everything else. They would control your dreams if they could. That?s the key word:

  CONTROL!

  i'm sure it's been done here before, but a very funny post by blondie spurred this thought.

  blondie was saying how one dub would put wt and awake magazines in the rear car window and count time driving too and fro...

  I remember this older brother taking me out with him while he did his evening witnessing on the ships in the city harbor. To start his time he would first stop at the local bus station, leave some Watchtower and Awake! magazines on a bench, and then we would drive way over to the docks on the other side of the city to place some magazines on a ship. (When we first walked in, there was a bunch of Filipinos watching porn on a VCR, which I thought was kind of funny. They offered us some crappy tea.) When we got back to our town, he would stop again at the same bus station where we started, see that somebody had thrown the magazines in the garbage (big surprise!), and then leave some more on the same bench. Of course he was still counting the time for that too.

  Also, my dad used to take me on some ?internal ministry? calls to encourage visit with some inactive or even disfellowshipped ones. Once when we were out in Saturday morning field service, he dropped in on a friend of mine who had been disfellowshipped for about a year. He just chatted with him and joked around. Of course I said hello and talked a bit with him too. My dad didn?t care?he?s an elder. All well. My dad does know how to bring joy to the ministry!

  i'm talking about where the male is the head of the house.

  his word is law, his wife is in subjection to him, his children are meant to sit and listen in awe to his every pronouncement.

  i never could explain why god "allowed" solomon to have a number of wives and concubines yet he never even got a reprimand!
