I wish I would have walked away years earlier instead of prolonging the inevitable.

I'm sad when I think about what it felt like when we found out "Jehovah" is actually the Governing Body.
That was a real letdown.

Basic Principles for Forum Moderation
by Simon ina perennial issue for any online forum is moderation and applying rules.
we have a set of community guidelines and posting guidelines that are intended to make clear what is and isn't acceptable but this tends to focus on the obvious standards of behavior for, well, obvious reasons.
it's easy to talk about people being aggressive or insulting etc... as those are common and clearly unwanted behaviors and the typical issue for online communities - the most likely things to come up.. does this mean that everything *not* on the list is allowed?

Traveling Merchants
by berrygerry inwt teaches that rev 18:11 applies to "big business" mourning the demise of false religion, as they were essentially losing their best customer(s).. the last reference to this concept that i could find is 1993 wt.
also weeping and mourning over her are greedy men of commerce, traveling merchants .
, who became rich from her.. .

This an amazing subject to me for a number of reasons:
1. I was very fearful of nuclear war in the '80s. We did "duck and cover" drills on the school playground, watched movies in the classroom and the TV special "the Day After" came out.
2. I started studying with the JWs when I was 18 and was baptized in 1989.
3. WT doctrine used the bible verses that assured us that the earth would last forever, would be inhabited and the days would be "cut short" or no flesh would survive, etc. ( that satisfied me).
4. Fast forward to 2010. I'm awakening from the cult <full throttle>. Yet, no longer scared.
The nuclear powers that exist today, none of them want to end themselves.
The nations are actually starting to come together. It's no longer a focus of mine. It's out of my hands and we all are going to die, one way or another.
Where I live, would not be a nuke target. I would be fully aware, as SF is line of sight as is Fairfield , CA, home to Travis AFB. ( which is about 1/4 mile from the FF assembly hall, FYI )None of this means anything.
Good Luck!

How do you overcome SHUNNING after leaving the organization and move on?
by suavojr init amazes me how many of you have left it all behind, including family, brothers and sisters, friends and a full network of people.
i for one cannot find the courage to breakaway, and this causes me great anxiety and stress.
it eats me alive to think that if i open my mouth everyone i know will simply turn their back on me.

Accepting the fact that these that shun are not worth it.
Sad at first, then happy.
Totally over it. I do not crave any of them for associates. If one were to approach me, I would give them a chance.
See where it goes. -

If the governments do not completely destroy everything about them, they will continue to kill.
They will use whatever they can. They will regain strength.
This is history speaking, not me.How long until they take out 1,000s at a time instead of 14?
Do you think they are not actively trying? The current candidates are proposing this now.
