  Living in the era of "Generation Me"

  this really got to me today at the wt study.. i am not ashamed to admit, i am part of that "generation".. you get one role of the dice in this life, you got to take what you can now, in order to have a good quality life later.. i agree, we need to help and show love to our fellow man.

  but, not when this becomes the priority above our own needs, wants and aspirations.. welcome to "generation me" wt, this is my time.. peace out..

  Coincidentally, my wife out of the blue, used the term "generation me" today. I later read this topic and asked her if she heard it in the lesson. She did.

  Is 1919 Important to the WT?

  does anyone know if the wt still claims they were appointed in 1919?

  is there proof of this appointment?

  any ideas where i can find out how they get to this date?

  If they invoke Nu-Lite, then every publication that mentions 1919 was wrong.

  Big gamble.

  Wait for a revised Revelation book to provide "brighter light"...

  Proof, you ask?

  i have a story to share about my calls to wt ny hq this past week.

  i was quite surprised by the level of disinterest and lack of concern from the two contacts that i spoke to.

  rather than jumping right in and sharing my experience - and perhaps "poisoning the well," i'd like to read experiences of others on this forum who had the urge or need to call the wt contact number.. btw - mine was not an apostate rant or overly critical of the wt and was presented in a friendly and helpful way.

  Sadly, it's the JWs that were afraid when "publishing" that article as they were the ones that had to make the presentations.

  Theocratic warfare [AKA Lying for the Truth]

  my elder brother made the mistake of telling me about the wts policy of theocratic warfare.

  he first called it 'lying for the truth' then he tried to tone it down to theocratic warfare.

  he justifies this position by citing the scriptures that say do not throw pearls to the swine for they will trample them under foot and tear you to pieces.. my question is .

  the internet is the archive for civilization.. watchtower cannot hide it's history.. are we seeing the beginning of a mass exodus out of her?.

  In my area many older ones are dying. As many as 10 in the last two years and as many as 10 more could die ANYTIME.

  How are JWs coping with the FACT that the very ones that studied with them, that told them we'd never grow old, etc are dying before their eyes?

  Then add in JW'TV'ORG and all the major doctrinal changes. How long can they hold out?

  I was working the stage at an assembly day where we knew back stage before the baptism talk that there were no candidates.

  We thought nothing of it. Our only concern was for the "poor brother" giving the talk to no one.

  1200ish in attendance.

  thank you very much. very nice post.

  I find myself imagining JWs watching these wild videos and thinking to themselves: "we must have the true religion".

  If they aren't, why are they still in. I must admit, my research into cults/mind control is sorely lacking.

  the jw..org website now boasts that the jw message is translated into over 700 languages..

  a noble feat, you may think.

  and how wonderful that jehovahs message can reach the far ends of the world in so many languages!.

  I don't think the amazing number of languages available will do much. On any level.

  It's just something JWs like to brag about. Some sort of, "reaching the entire inhabited earth" boast. Membership retainment tactics.
