  Would you convert to a religion for love?

  i am sure people convery to a religion to find peace and spiritual awakening.

  i also bet many convert simply for love.

  would you to assist " true love" if it required converting to a particular faith?.

  Back in the 70's at one of the meetings, an elder raised his hand and related his experience of how he came into the 'truth". I'll try to keep this as short as possible, he basically told of how when he was young he started a new job and there was this good looking gal there that caught his eye. His male coworkers laughed and said "Good luck, you'll need it". That young good looking gal was a Jehovahs Witness who turned her nose up at all who had asked her out, she would only date JW's. So he struck up a conversation with her and said he was interested in learning more about JW's. Well, she set him up with some 'brothers" who studied with him and in a short amount of time, guess what! He became a JW! Then the girl went out with him, they eventually got married and lived happily ever after.

  Of course, every one in the Hall clapped and thought to themselves, "My, isn't that a lovely story". And I suppose it was a lovely story, but I couldn't help thinking to myself, he basically just said that he became a JW in order to "get the girl". And, you know what, it happens all the time! Not just in JW circles, but in all religions and social events.

  If this girl had been a Mormon then he would have been relating his story in a Mormon Church.

  An Elder said: 'They're in prison for a reason'

  several years ago, i was studying the bible (jw literature) with an ms from the local congregation.

  i happened to mention that i had several pen pals who were incarcerated in various prisons.

  no matter what crimes they committed, i said i saw them as fellow human being who deserved to have a friend to write to.

  If you take your outline, numbered 1 thru 7, and substitute the word criminal with Watchtower Society, it is just as applicable.

  i just checked the jw.org website and noticed an article about the jw response to ebola.

  as i suspected, the entire focus was on alerting and educating jw members about ebola.just like in other disaster situations, the jw organization almost exclusively assists it's own members, ignoring the general public.

  it seems their main concern is keeping their members healthy so they can continue to spread the jw message door to door!!!

  The Watchtower does not consist of men's opinions.

  The Golden Age, March 18, 1931 Page 404 says:

  Do you know the germ theory has never been proven? And it cannot be proven, either. If it had been proven, it would not be a theory. It has been truly said that knowledge without evidence is superstition, and that applies to the germ theory also. It is a leftover superstition of a past age, when men feared that the earth was inhabited with hideous monsters that were hiding everywhere, in the air, in the sea, in the darkness, etc., always ready to jump out and devour him or make life otherwise miserable for him......We have turned from a gigantic monster theory, to the germs, which are so small that we cannot hear, see, feel, smell, or taste them.

  So, this is what Jehovahs spirit directed them to write, huh? And, of course, we know that Jehovah does not change! So, be comforted in knowing that this whole ebola thing is just mans crazy superstition!

  Remember, the message that JW's carry is a virus, in and of itself, and it is HIGHLY contagious! Be sure to wear protective clothing when one must come into contact with a JW.

  I have heard it from the time I was 12 years old. JW's do not wear beards because "the world" associates beards with hippies and rebellion.

  Funny thing is, I know of several JW's, elders included, who shave their heads, young and old. They don't seem to worry about stumbling those who associate bald heads with "nazi skinheads".

  Some double standards just seem to be tolerated more than others.

  i've found it helps, but it also acts as an appetite suppressant; i've lost several pounds since using it.

  i'm consuming fewer calories because i'm just not as hungry as before.

  If ant baits will stop acid reflux then I will try that too! Probably a lot cheaper than Prilosec!!

  Thanks! I will definitely give the ant baits a try. It's about to turn cooler weather where I am and the ants will go away for the winter. I will be ready for 'em when spring comes back around!

  Every summer I am plagued with little black ants. I feed the cats on the front porch and if the cats leave any catfood in their bowls, the front porch is soon infested with the little black "piss" ants. Even if there is no food left over I am infested with the ants. So I have sprayed with several different brands of ant killer. The ants will disappear for a day, sometimes less, but are soon back.

  My neighbor suggested that I spray with apple cider vinegar. I live in a small town so I get small town, home remedies for all types of problems that I encounter. So I did as she suggested and sprayed the front porch and the sidewalk with the apple cider vinegar. Well, I am here to tell you, THE ANTS LOVED IT!!! Didn't kill a one of 'em, they acted like they were at a water park!!

  They come back every day begging for some more apple cider vinegar! I think they are now addicts!!

  teachings that have remained the samewhen you highlight the continual ebb and flow of changing teachings, a jw may refer you to the long held teachings which have never changed.

  core doctrines such as the importance of using gods name, and the trinity, hellfire and immortality of the soul all being false.

  Not to be nit picky, but I don't think that CT Russell did give prominence to the name Jehovah. He obviously did acknowledge that God's name was Jehovah, but look at any Watchtower magazine that he printed and it clearly states Announcing CHRIST's Kingdom, or CHRIST's Presence.

  I think Rutherford changed it to announcing Jehovahs Kingdom rather than Christ's.

  Have you ever given CoC to a JW to read? Or any other "red pill" book?

  i recently ordered a copy of coc for my wife.

  she doesn't know it exists, but i'm hoping she's ready to read it.

  it seems to be the best red pill out there.

  I gave it to my elderly mother a few years back and encouraged her to read it. Like many devout JW's, she took it and started reading it with the attitude that she could pick anything this guy says apart and use it to prove the JW's ARE right!

  She was reading it with a "pish-posh" attitude, I believe reading over it without actually thinking about what it says. Up until she got to a certain part. I truly believe it was the part about the double standards, Mexico vs Mozambique. She shut it down, then and there, would not read any further and wanted that book OUT OF HER HOUSE!!!

  Her exact words, "I don't care, I am sticking with the organization!" It obviously struck a nerve. Like many JW's, she prefers to belong to an organization that will do her thinking for her rather than use her own mind.

  It has been my experience that unless a JW already has some doubts, it does little good to try to get them to read CoC, or any other book that exposes the WT.
