TEACHINGS THAT HAVE REMAINED THE SAME

When you highlight the continual ebb and flow of changing teachings, a JW may refer you to the long held teachings which have never changed. Core doctrines such as the importance of using Gods name, and the trinity, hellfire and immortality of the soul all being false. But even here things are not as simple as they could be:

    Gods Name - w89 3/15 p. 19 par. 6
from its very first year of publication (1879), the Watch Tower gave prominence to the divine name, JEHOVAH.

    Trinity - w89 3/15 p. 18 par. 3
Building on this foundation, way back in 1882 these dedicated Bible students clearly stated in the Watch Tower: "Our readers are aware that while we believe in Jehovah God and Jesus, and the holy Spirit, we reject as totally unscriptural, the teaching that these are three Gods in one person".

    Hell - w89 3/15 pp. 19-20 par. 8
In 1880 the Watch Tower analyzed the original-language words transliterated Sheol and Hades in the Bible and concluded that these designate the grave. It also pointed out that people consigned to Gehenna were destroyed, not tormented.

    Immortality of the soul - w89 3/15 p. 20 par. 9
In 1894 the Watch Tower raised the question, "Whence then came the popular notion that all human beings possess immortality, innately, inherently?" With insight, it answered: "Scanning the pages of history, we find that, although the doctrine of human immortality is not taught by God’s inspired witnesses, it is the very essence of all heathen religions."

So why is this not simple?
Please explain, why is it that the ONLY core teachings not to have changed are ones that come from the 1800's? This is decades before the Faithful and Discreet Slave existed and were appointed by Jesus in 1919. All of the teachings since the FDS were approved have been far more unreliable than the earlier teachings of the non-slave class!

The leaders just couldn't stop with some basics. They kept thinking that every frickin idea that popped in their heads came from the great Oz.

By the way is that quote from the 89w accurate, they sort of blew the Trinity definition if it is.

    Hi designs,

the full 'trinity' quote from that article (emphasis theirs) is

    *** w89 3/15 p. 18 par. 3 Insight That Jehovah Has Given ***

Building on this foundation, way back in 1882 these dedicated Bible students clearly stated in the Watch Tower: “Our readers are aware that while we believe in Jehovah God and Jesus, and the holy Spirit, we reject as totally unscriptural, the teaching that these are three Gods in one person, or as some put it, one God in three persons.”

In fact, all of the quotes in the OP are from the exact same WT and exact same article. It was called "Insight That Jehovah Has Given"

4 teachings? That's just grand. Every other religion on earth has done far better than that.

These are not though Four Doctrines, only the first, about the name Jehovah, is something that is taught, the other three are simply things they did not and still do not, teach.

This is important, because they claim that Jesus chose them in 1919 to be his FDS on the basis of what they were teaching.

The teaching that god's name is Jehovah was not unique to the Bible Students in 1919 nor is it to today's JW's.

So, what possible reason could Jesus have to choose them in 1919 if they had no unique teaching at the time, that they still hold to ?

The teaching that they were chosen in 1919 came about way after 1919, so well in to the era of constantly changing teachings that you so ably identify Splash, and like the teachings they have already rejected, it is patently not "truth".

They have plainly not been preaching truth, neither have they ever been "in the truth", as Truth does not change.

    Dis-Member 4 teachings? That's just grand.

To be fair, these are 'core' doctrines.

If we included other, less important teachings that had never changed, we could add:
Our view of organ transplants. erm, actually, sorry, no we couldnt.
The edenic serpent had legs? um, nope that changed too.
    Vaccinations? Hemoglobin? Nah, changed.
    Worshipping Jesus? Try again.
Lecithin? Pinata? Disfellowshipped can partake of the Lords evening meal? No-ho! all changed.
Can greet a disfellowsipped person? Ministerial Servants can sit on Judicial committees? Praying for DF'd ones? All changed again.

    Hmm....

Meaning of 'marking'? Who are the 'superior authorities'? Who sowed the mustard grain? Who are the Glorious Ones? Who the Alpha and Omega is? Who replaced Judas as the 12th apostle? If resurrected ones can marry? when the 1260 days, 1290 days, 1335 days or 2300 days begin and end?

How about if Matt 24:14 has been fulfilled yet? Will there be another world war? How long a creative day is? If Zoo's are good or bad? How many keys to kingdom there are? Who is the 'True Lord'? If Every eye will see Jesus? When the 2nd presence began? 10 toes on Daniels image? If there will be a rapture? At what age to get baptised? The guaranteed 1925 earthly resurrection? How to remove a tattoo? If you can be sexually sterilised? Seperating of the sheep and goats? The Mustard seed? The wise and foolish virgins? What is a Generation? Who Jesus is mediator for? If we can vote? If Jesus had a beard? How bodies will be disposed of after amageddon? If you must only marry in the Lord? What reasons permit you to get divorced? When The End will be? Adam's skin colour? How long Adam was alive before Eve was created? if women can be MS's? If JW's are prophets? If Adam will be resurrected? When the harvest began? When 6,000 years will be up? Who Michael is? If Chess is safe to play? Who are Ordained ministers? Who are the seven Shepherds and eight Dukes? When the anointed were sealed? If alternative military service is allowed? When Babylon the Great fell? Who the 12 tribes in Rev refers to? What is the sin that easily entangles us? If there will be a Rapture.

Well wouldn't you know it - all changed!

    OK Dis-Member, 4 teachings.

I wonder what financial angle would make new light(tm) change these?

Any kind of lawsuit or pressure from "Caesar" (like on voting, blood transfusions). They "change" officially, but in reality, things like that do NOT change.

So when it comes down to it, Jehovah's Witnesses have absolutely no unique beliefs, or any beliefs that can be proven with the ancient collection of scrolls we refer to as the Bible. Therefore, their claim of having "The Truth" is completely insane. Am I on the same page?
