how long are circuit assemblies and district assemblies now
by darth frosty inwife was wondering.

Yes. Two CAs per year. The morning sessions are about 2.5 hrs long, and the afternoon is about the same. The crazy thing is the cost of them. They have gotten ridiculously expensive for the R&F. Our last one was 24000. I really think that has potential to start the awakening process for some.

"The Friends"
by FeelingFree ini have only come across this term very recently on jwn and in an "apostate" video i watched yesterday.
never have i heard anyone refer to jw's as "the friends" here in the uk.
is it just used in america?.

Not sure where it came from but here in the Midwest it is very common. A possible usage could be "during the funeral the friends were very supportive."

The Hum Drum Lives of Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus inboring and useless, a waste of valuable time..

There is def two sides to it. The meeting, studying, preaching, assemblies, etc... Is all a big waste of time. But, in my opinion the friends, vacations, dinner dates, parties, etc... Are fun. And I enjoy them. I know that I will have a hard time replacing my friends when I leave.
Being a witness definitly does not not have some deep meaning or fulfillment. But is life outside of the Borg any different? I can't say because I have only experienced life in the Borg up to this point.

This is a very interesting situation. I am curious if it is just coincidence that it was the first visit after the change that gave the CO the authority to appoint and remove elders. If I understand correctly before this change it would be much harder to remove elders. My dad always said that if they tried to remove him that he would appeal it. That would be if the other elders were going after him. I'm not sure how that would work but I believe a letter would be sent to bethel. Now it's all different. The CO says, and so it is. Perhaps the CO had an issue with these elders for a while.

So, is the age limit for COBOE a done deal?
by stillin inthe congregation i attend recently switched from an older coboe to a much younger one.
is that across the board now?
this was to apply to co's also, if i remember correctly, wasn't it?.

80 years old is def a set limit for cobe. I am fairly certain that 70 is a set limit for CO.

a bit slow to load but yes, despite the headlines, kids in the us are getting better.
the watchtower used to love quoting all sorts of negative statistics in years past.

Interesting article. I think your sceptisism that this article will be used in any borg talks is well placed.

Lisa,
thanks for sharing your experience. It's nice to hear that you don't have any regrets. Congrats on not letting your kids get stuck in this cult. It sounds like you have a great family.
